God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the CALLED!

I think the important point is that we're not saved by works, but, for example, Paul didn't kill anyone after his conversion. David is a poor example, for his actions, he was not allowed to build the temple. God DOES care what we do, but only after we are converted ( and that's not a reference to David, who lived before Christianity/conversion was possible ).

The usual case is in our sins. At least I can testify that I am a sinner saved by Grace. I sin. I am saved. Both apply to me. I would not begin to speak for you. But I suspect that I am not alone.

The Bible says that He came to save us "from our sins" - which is why 1John 2:1 and Romans 6 are so inconvenient to some.

If we rely on our own abilities to do something then their is no faith but, if we cannot do something, but rely on God then that is true faith and God receives the glory

Church membership will not guarantee us heaven. We must abide in Christ, and his love must abide in us. We must every day make advancement in the formation of symmetrical character. “Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.” [Matthew 5:48.] As God is perfect in his sphere, so are we required to be perfect in ours. There is a great work before us individually, to reach this high standard. Our attainments will be just in accordance with the effort we make, our character just what we choose to make it; for through the divine aid promised us, we can overcome. Jesus “knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we are dust.” [Psalm 103:14.] In pitying tenderness he will give us the help and strength we need. {GW92 446.3}

Paul gives the answer to the Gentiles as the Jews knew this,

Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
