Gibs Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 For sure, not one has anything of which to boast or feel elevated about. Lu 18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. Lu 18:13 And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. But we must trust in His profered Salvation and be sure of it when we are one in Him, but no boasting. It should humble us greatly. Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. It is He who is in us who does the works. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Just sayin' Here's an interesting question. The sheep and the goats are separated according to their works. Are we saved by works ? Is being a sheep our goal ? ( Not saying the goal is to be a goat ) Quote

Is being a sheep our goal ? ( Not saying the goal is to be a goat ) As you well know, we are not saved by are works, but by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior. But we are rewarded by our works! Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
BibleOnly Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 I don't think that is true. I think that faith has works. But, I don't think that those works are social work. I don't think I need to visit prisoners to be saved. I think that this parable is about the judgement at the end of the millennium. Any Christian who wakes to that judgement, knows they have failed before they start. Quote

I think they have more to do with keeping oneself unspotted by the world and preaching the Gospel than natural good works. I don't think that means we should not do natural good works, but, I just don't think that's the core of it. Quote
