Morning Glory Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Jesus was/is also human, therefore He could be tempted, just the same as you and I are. It is how any of us responds to temptation that makes or breaks us. I can't fathom HOW He was able to NOT yield to the temptations, (even as a child that just blows me away) BUT I am eternally grateful that He did not yield. The text that you quote DOES say that GOD can't be tempted, but, as I already stated, Jesus is God AND human, and it was the humanity that could be tempted. I almost hesitate to say this, but in the SOP she says that at any time He COULD have yielded.........that was the human side of Him, but that He didn't. PTL!!! Jesus is God, how then was evil able to tempt Jesus? Jesus as God laid aside the independent use of His divinity and gave it to the Father. The body He assumed from Mary's womb is nothing short of our fallen, life from Adam. Adam's life is our life Xeroxed a million times over. The life Christ assumed had in it what Paul calls "the law of sin"....Because of this it tempted Christ [as man] to live for self (the essence of sin). Nevertheless, not even by thought did Jesus (under the influence of the Spirit) give into the cravings of our flesh. Quote
