Gibs Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Is this old world really getting worse? Yes really it is by any good look around. We are about to enter into the time Dan. speaks of and you'll soon have your answer then if you don't get it before, Da 12:1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. It is near closing time for the reign of sin. Not the majority anymore are living high even here in America and America is now coming down to one of the lowest in the world. Na 1:9 What do ye imagine against the LORD? he will make an utter end: affliction shall not rise up the second time. Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. The spiritual wickedness in high places should awaken any to something. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ
LifeHiscost Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Quote: So, it's very easy to read the Bible through lens of idealism and say that the world is getting worse. It is getting better in many areas. Has any one ever heard of a society that survived with infanticide as a solution to their problems? Four thousand abortions daily, performed in the U.S. alone, where the bible does not indicate the U.S. will fall before Jesus returns, indicates the next great positive event will be Jesus' return to this earth. But in the meantime.... "For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows."Mark 13:8 NKJV God blesses! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
Members phkrause Posted January 7, 2012 Members Posted January 7, 2012 Recently posted here by LifeHiscost - Signs of the Times - http://www.itiswritten.com/television#episodes/1225 Thanks Bob, I have that series on DVD. Some really good research he has done into this subject. But I guess according to some he's out of tune with reality. It's amazing that anyone thinks that what's happening is so much better that just even 50 years ago. A friend of mine, who's now a retired teacher in NYC, worked in a HS in Spanish Harlem. When he first started there some 40 years ago, not saying the neighborhood was perfect, people could actually go to school there fairly safe. By the time he retired they had to have metal detectors put in because of all the guns and knife's the kids where bringing into school. I can remember when I first went to HS, they might of had 1 or 2 shootings, by the time I graduated, it was up to maybe 10 or so. We thought that was bad. I few short years later and it ballooned to over 20 a year. That was only in the Bronx. Just look at politics, each new election year, the accusations between the two parties has gotten worse and worse. They at least used to work together, or try to work together. Now its like, well you didn't do that for me so why should I help you here. If people can't see that the nations are getting more and more angry, than I guess as it says in the Bible, "he will come as a thief in the night," and we wont even be aware, because its so nice and quiet down here. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Moderators Bravus Posted January 7, 2012 Moderators Posted January 7, 2012 Part of the problem, of course, is that we have not defined our terms. At all. The 'world getting better' is an incredibly subjective thing, because what counts as 'better' varies from person to person. For me, for example, more civil rights and less discrimination for gay people is a sign of the world getting better, while for many here it is a sign of the world getting worse. Same thing with medicine: longer, healthier lives to me are a sign of things getting better. Not sure how it's a sign of things getting worse, but some find obesity and other health issues a sign of that. Where I have talked about 'reality' in this thread it has not been about these subjective, opinion-based things, it has been about measurable, objective things. The claim that 65 year olds have as much life in front of them now as 100 years ago is simply wrong. The claim that this generation is likely to reverse the trend of increasing lifespans is simply wrong. The opening question in the thread is too broad to be really useful, without better definition of our terms. The world is both getting better *and* worse; it depends what you choose to focus on. Quote Truth is important

That is one of the Youtube spots that revealed itself at the end of "The Most Important..." It was titled "I Dare You Not to Watch". It not only refers to an industry that probably reveals cash outlay that will exceed the weight of the world eventually if allowed to continue, but also reveals the reason why God is going to end it all in the near future so we don't end up dying as a result of being smothered by too much filthy lucre. Gibs Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Don't you all know that we would come to the time when black is called white and white black and sin right and right wrong, light darkness and darkness light. Bad would be good and bad be called good. Satan called the good god and God called the bad god. We are there in some circles with each of these are a fact. People today don't seem to realize much difference between right and wrong. The Word of God is not treasured today as it ought to be. A good example is all the versions so called of the Bible. When in fact I think about the only one not copyrighted is the KJV. To be copyrighted it must have so many changes from the original or another. It is not actually permissable to copy and paste from any but the KJV unless you get permission. Do you realize how terrible some of these changes and translations are? Get Gail Riplinger's book "New Age Bible Versions" and you will have your eyes opened. When has the earth been destroyed the most of all up through the ages? I think you will find probably pretty much in the last 100 years modern man has become co destroyer with Satan. We didn't have the earth half filled with noxious dumps polluting water and streams and oceans. Now it's hard to find a fish clean and fit to eat from some contamination or another. Modern man and his so called modern things and ways is co destroyer with their father the devil. God has a better plan and the new earth won't be anything close to what it is now. The Lord God is going to end this mess in not the too distant future you may mark my words on that. 1Jo 4:3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. To be copyrighted it must have so many changes from the original or another. That's not true. There are other Public Domain versions. PS. Copyrighted does not mean that you can't copy and paste from it. Pastors do so every single day without any issues. People who made certain translations deserve to be paid. It's not a terrible thing. On top of that, they don't come down on religious people for fair use of their translations. Ellen White's books are copyrighted, for example. She made money and living writing them. She should be paid. People should be paid for their work. Quote: It is not actually permissable to copy and paste from any but the KJV unless you get permission. It is permissible to copy and paste from any Bible translation. Pastors and commentators do so every single day. Copyright does not cover works of criticism, political, or religious references. Some of the songs sung in your church are copyrighted, but people can re-print the lyrics and sing them in churches because such use is protected under the law. In case of the Bible, copyright protects the work as a whole from re-publishing it by people who don't hold proper permission. Quote: When has the earth been destroyed the most of all up through the ages? There has never been so many people through all the ages. We've switched to high-output economies in order to meet the demand of food and products, but we've neglected the ecological factors. It does not mean that it will keep on keeping on that way. Ironically, much of the changes have been delayed and stopped by the Evangelical community in government. The progressives are the ones who end up pushing for cleaner laws and some limitations. So, the question is... do you want this world to be better, if it means that Jesus will not come back for another 300-400 years, or longer? Quote: I think you will find probably pretty much in the last 100 years modern man has become co destroyer with Satan. Never seen Satan running around and polluting the earth. Sure, the last 100 years has taken a toll on ecology, but we are just now beginning to come to some sense and beginning to remedy the situation. There are efforts on the way to stop and reverse the current trends. It will take time, but I'm confident that it will happen. Quote: Modern man and his so called modern things and ways is co destroyer with their father the devil. God has a better plan and the new earth won't be anything close to what it is now. No need to speak in such detached manner. You are a modern man, with modern things, as you have a computer that you are typing these things on. You most likely have a car that you drive, and plenty of other things that do their their fair share of pollution that you contribute to all of this. It's a matter of the system that we developed, and changing the system to be more environmentally conscious. On the other hand, high-horse religious demagogy really does nothing to remedy the situation. All of us have a part to play in making the world better. Quote: The Lord God is going to end this mess in not the too distant future you may mark my words on that. And what are you going till then? Sit and show people how terrible things are, and that these are beyond repair because of sin and because no-one reads KJV Bible anymore? Things can and will be better, if we acknowledge that they can, and we have means to make them better. Quote

Quote: Now, brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, 2 for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. Talking about "The day of the Lord", not about anything in context of the discussion. What's terrifying to think about, is what type of decisions would people with such worldview would make given that they hold government positions that decide peace and war, protecting the nature, or forget it all for the sake of "making Christ come sooner".
