First, I acknowledge that this article is from Salon, and many here will disagree with much in it. Still, I do think it's interesting... and something Americans ought to know more about before they vote:

The odd backward logic that says 'government will get bigger *unless* government starts interfering in everyone's bedrooms' is particularly striking...

Has anyone really paid attention to what Santorum is saying concerning this? Federalism and states rights

Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this.

Let me guess. He doesn't believe in the 14th Amendment.

Let me guess, why did I anticipate a crack like this when I saw you had posted?

I haven't looked it up but am assuming and hoping he does recognize a limited role from the federal government and that it is the responsibility of the federal government to ensure personal freedom and the right not to be owned by another

As Seventh-day Adventists, we also like the state governments to have a limited role. Watch out for those that talk too much about limiting the *federal* government. What they really want is to empower state governments to violate the Bill of Rights.
