What is your favorite way to eat peanuts?

My favorite way of having them eaten is to hand feed them to baby elephants.

Peanut butter (chunky, of course), unsalted roasted in the shell, peanut butter cookies, peanut in granola, boiled peanuts.

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches fixed the way my dad did it.

One scoop of peanut butter, one scoop of jelly, one large pat of margarine or butter. Put it on a plate, mix it all up with a fork, and slather on a slice of w.w. bread, cover it with another slice, and consume with a glass of milk straight from the cow.

Can't do that now, tho. We don't have a cow.

Sounds good Dottie ... understand about no longer having a cow; me neither.

I was wondering if we have any members who love their peanuts boiled?

Peanuts- in Thai cooking

My grandmother used to make "Sabbath beans" - a Boston style bean dish with boiled peanuts in it. As a kid I didn't like the crunch and set them aside in a little pile, but of course that was unacceptable and I had to eat them anyway. I haven't had that dish for a long time now, but I am pretty sure I'd love the boiled peanuts if only Grandma could make them for me.

Hi Dgrim60, Yes I have eaten raw peanuts ... and love 'em.

We used to raise peanuts and they are the best straight out of the field.

Adams peanut butter isn't available here in the Southeast, but Smucker's is. Some say that it is made by the same parent company, but that it tastes different. That may be because a different variety of peanut is used in the West.

I prefer Lauka Scudders smooth peanut butter. Mother used to ground the peanuts, add Molasses a pinch of salt and I don't remember if there was anything else ... but it was really good. Much like Lauka Scudders.

I really like almond butter.

But i found this guote on ThaiTable.com

Quote:
The original Pad Thai recipe calls for crushed roasted peanuts. Thailand is hot and humid and storage conditions are often sub-optimal, so a certain fungus can grow on peanuts. This fungus is linked to cancer, so many people in Thailand avoid eating peanuts.

Anyone know of this is true?

Aflatoxin is the very powerful carcinogenic toxin produced by the fungus that grows in or contaminates peanuts. However, TC Campbell in his, "China Study" book, its carcinogenic effect is blunted by a plant-based diet. IOW, while aflatoxin is a potent carcinogen, it takes consumption of animal protein to trigger the carcinogenic effect to manifest itself. The analogy that has been used to describe this phenomenon is - aflatoxin (or any carcinogen) loads the gun, and animal protein pulls the trigger.
