bonnie Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Obama going into the new year, there appears to be very little spirit of Auld Lang Syne. Instead, according to the new Washington Whispers poll, many voters aren't forgetting what they dislike about Obama and want him out office. In our New Year's poll, when asked what news event they fear most about 2012, Americans by a margin of two-to-one said Obama's reelection. Only 16 percent said they fear the Democrat won't win a second term, while 33 percent said they fear four more years. [Check out the top political events of 2011] Next to Obama's reelection, 31 percent of Americans said they feared higher taxes, which may be proof that the president's focus on the payroll tax cut has hit paydirt. The poll, however, held out some hope for Obama. Some 38 percent of younger Americans, 18-24, said their biggest fear was higher taxes. Just 28 percent of those same voters said they feared Obama winning in November. [see pictures of Obama behind the scenes.] But in results backed up by other polls, older Americans and those earning $75,000 or more are especially worried about the president getting a second term, according to the poll done by Synovate eNation. Nearly half of Americans 65 and older said Obama's reelection was their top fear, 39 percent of those making $75,000 or more agreed. Moderators Bravus Posted January 10, 2012 Moderators Posted January 10, 2012 http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_c...l_tracking_poll And despite this level of disapproval, the polls show an Obama/Rmoney election as line ball. Quote Truth is important
Dr. Shane Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 I read the other day that based on an analysis of polling numbers and past Presidents, Obama has about a 34% chance of getting re-elected but that doesn't mean too much because there haven't been that many Presidents and we haven't been tracking poll numbers for many of them. So the data pool is rather small which means the statistics are not as meaningful. The two latest polls taken from 1/6 - 1/8 are: Rasmussen 44% approve 55% disapprove Gallup 46% approve and 47% disapprove That Gallup poll has more undecideds but that isn't necessarily good news for Obama. Undecideds normally do not end up favoring the incumbent. Pew Research has a poll out today showing that Obama against a generic Republican is tied at 41%. Again, showing a lot of undecideds. It looks like that in order for Obama to win re-election something big is going to have to change that he can take credit for. I hope he doesn't go to war with Iran thinking that will win him re-election. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Dr. Shane Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 the polls show an Obama/Rmoney election as line ball. I don't think the head-on polls mean that much at this point because there hasn't been a lot of air time given to attacking either one. The head-on numbers really start to mean about a week or two after both of the national conventions have been held. Rasmussen had a head-on poll last week between Romney and Obama tied at 42%. (a lot of undecideds) CBS News has a head-on poll between them this week giving Romney a 2-point advantage 45-47 (less undecideds but still a statistical tie) Quote Pastoral Family Counselor...
