The media itself makes it very hard for any women in the spotlight to escape that image as well.

For example. A couple of years ago, Revolver magazine ran an issue on the "Top 10 Hottest Women in Heavy Metal". Angela Gossow of Arch Enemy got wind that they were putting a picture of her in it. She called the editor and said that she did not want to be included as she did not want the media focus on her looks, she wanted it to be on the music Arch Enemy makes. She was told in no uncertain terms that if Arch Enemy wanted to have continued media coverage in Revolver, that she would give in and let them run her picture as part of the issue. She said no, and to this day the magazine has not done a feature story on the band since.

So there is a huge problem. How many young women in the entertainment industry are going to have the guts to say no like that? Their careers threatened. Arch Enemy has gone onto some great success, but it has been through dogged determination and relentless work. But they are the one in a million that way. Most young people that have to deal with the media or are in an image related industry are going to have to cave to get anywhere and try to do a job they love.

Very thought provoking...hopefully. The way women are treated by men is very ancient and extends back to the beginning of humanity. Their are so many code words and phrases used everyday that diminish women and their accomplishments, that one might wonder if it is now genetic.

Hmmmmm.......somewhere's around my house is a book, and I don't even remember what the title is....I just remember it was written by a female doctor, who said that those women, who have good relationships with thier Christian fathers, can withstand all the influences of sex that the world seems to want to throw at them....

I totally agree. It was NOT worth watching! Talking about, yes. I would call the images border line porn. If you are inclined to look at such images, I would say steer clear of the video. Please be careful of what is posted here. I have heard that porn is as addictive as cocaine, and the very way that addicts get their fix, is on the same media (internet) that this forum is.

For those who might say I should lighten up. Have you ever been addicted to something? Are you your brothers keeper? Just because you don't have that particular weakness does not make you better then someone who does. You have your weakness as well.

Yes do look for it. My question is, what does having a good relationship mean? What does it look like?

That was pretty informative, especially when you see who are doing the damage to women. Almost all were men except for one who was a women, and from what I can tell does more damage to women than all the men in that clip. The other thing that stuck me was the part about women in government, I believe that was a little bit of a spin there. I believe a major reason why women are not elected more into office has more to do with the voting public. I remember a few women that I heard say, that they would never vote for a women period. In our previous presidential elections I really thought that, at least the democratic side, Hilary would have been voted as the candidate for the democratic party, but fell short. I'd say the reason would be that women didn't vote for her. Again I do know of a few women that didn't vote for her, was only based on the fact that she was a women.

So the solution to exploiting women in advertising is to exploit them in politics?

I watched the video without the audio last night. Without anything other than that the message seem clear enough. I'll comment after I listen later but will respond to this story right now. Who is Angela Gossow to tell a magazine how they can run their articles on her when she has freely chosen the public limelight? I'd say the same thing if it was a male entertainer. Every entertainer is open season as soon as they go public.

That aside though - there is part of the issue. Why should entertainers, or anybody in the public eye have to give up their personal dignity? Why should they have to allow any kind of public scrutiny beyond that of their chosen profession?

She has a say but she has no right to force anyone other than the band to do or say what she wants.If a politician demanded that the press report only what he thought they should report about him he would be laughed off the podium and you'd be the first join in. Why is a hard rocker more privileged? Demanding that everyone look at you like you were a man when you're not is like asking asking everyone to ignore the fact that you as a man are entering the women's bathroom.

Then maybe she shouldn't have shown the world her body in the first place,then they wouldn't know how to compare her. Demanding that after 6000+ years of sin those in the sin focused entertainment world should suddenly start treating their women like they were neutered in a Christian church is a little unreasonable.Besides, according to the report, the story was specifically about the 10 hottest women not the 10 hottest bands. The overwhelming number of women in the world would be excited to be included in a story like that. I don't notice Brangela writing letters of complaint.Or Bradjolie either for that matter.

Women have a responsibility just as men do.Woomen have a IQ higher than a piece of plywood.

Women know exactly how to attract a man.Many do that and then whine because men were attracted to what they showed.

What the men do with that is their responsibility and not the responsibility of the women.But in this world we live in,women know exactly what they are doing,the effect they want and do have. If a woman goes out with a dress cut low to show off to others what she has,don't whine when others look. If you are wearing a skirt that shows everything south of the border if you bend over a little,guess what impression will be left.

If men think that gives them the moral right to harm a woman they are looking for excuses.

We are each responsible for our conduct man or woman, and women are not nearly as stupid and naive as they are being made out to be. Many men take the convenient,"I have a right,see how she is dressed".Just as wrong as the woman that says I can dress and act as I please and I want the respect you give your mother.Ain't going to happen anytime soon

So she should have stayed hidden in a kitchen somewhere and not stepped out of the house?

This is not a woman that dresses in revealing clothing. She goes on stage in a shirt and a pair of pants. This is not Britney Spears or Rhianna... This is a person that will do any number of interviews about being a woman in metal, as long as it focuses on being a musician, not what she wore or did not wear.

The whole point is this. Even when you get a female in the spotlight that tries to make a difference for the next generation coming up they get punished. The media owns them for it. That is very wrong IMO. It has to be someone in the spotlight, making that kind of statement for it to change.

Good for you, Dottie. As a man, choosing Jesus as Lord and admiring women for, generally speaking, their more nurturing and tolerant and often more mature nature, it literally turns me off when I see images of women that are being used to appeal to men as if men were only interested in their (the men)own worst attribute, the lust of the flesh. To me, as a Christian, it only proves that men of this world are in a battle for their souls, and the enemy of souls knows the best way to destroy them is to hit them at their weakest point.

Even so, come Lord Jesus.
