Robert Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 "We believe free enterprise and individual initiative have brought this nation success, opportunity, economic growth and prosperity; and, that our government must practice both fiscal restraint and responsibility to promote the individuals’ right to keep more of the money they earn and to decrease the burden of taxation by decreasing government intrusion into the marketplace via public-private partnerships and similar devices which inevitably lead to increased regulation." Robert Posted January 21, 2012 Author Posted January 21, 2012 Just because I'm against some of what Republicans stand for doesn't mean I agree with the Democrats. Having said this here's where I disagree with the Republican party: "We believe free enterprise" What is "free enterprise" in the minds of the Republicans? Answer: Decreased regulation...a free for all. In their minds it's okay to pollute the water - as long as a Republican isn't drinking it. It's okay to pollute the air - as long as a Republican isn't breathing it. It's okay to exploit a person - as long as a Republican isn't being exploited. Quote
Robert Posted January 21, 2012 Author Posted January 21, 2012 "to keep more of the money they earn" Just because you earned it doesn't mean you have earned it morally. Tobacco farmers & manufacturers earn their money, yet their product kills. Hence they shouldn't be allowed to keep their money. In fact they should be put out of business, but that's regulation and the Republican party is against this. All who make their money through exploitation shouldn't be allowed to keep their money. They too should be put out of business. God fearing? No! Playing the religion card, yes! They have a form of Godliness.... Self-reliant? No! Hypocrites? yes! Why? Because they aren't self-reliant! Everyday they drive not on their own roads, but on the socialistic highway. Same with all forms of insurance, etc. Quote
Neil D Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Robert, There are exceptions to the rules, so to speak. For example, I don't believe that tobacco farmers need to be put out of business. Thier product is good to use as a home made pesticide control. But to smoke it, yes, that public certified addiction needs to go away... I just got thru watching the 2008 movie "food matters". I also saw the movie "Food, Inc"...Where there used to be a lot of people in the ag business back in the 70s, tain't so now...It's corporations and the bottom line for profit that endangers our food supply, our health, our health care system, and labor unions...And these guys are republicans with big money....
