So Newt is back in the Saddle.

If anything, as an observer, it is entertaining.

If the sleeze factor and WWJD crowds had not been so anxious to keep him off the saddle he may very well never have been able to get on.

The same is beginning with Santorum and his wife.If he gets to cocky and to close to being in the saddle it will get worse. The sleeze factor is now looking at ex-boyfriends of decades ago of the wife of Santorum

Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this.

Excellent Point Bonnie.

Gingrich should not have been dragged in the mud. And the voters have now sent this message.

The main reason I am glad he won is it is In your face" for those that thought dragging out a woman that had been the third party as "the other woman" twice with married men with children whining as she claims Gingrich wanted her to have a third party in theirs.A woman that would drag herself and those close to her

thru this sleeze deserved to fail as "she claimed to be able to bring him down"

It was entertaining to listen to republicans and democrats alike

make their feelings for her known here locally. Whether he wins the nomination or not, that was quite heartening to listen to

the voters have now sent this message.

The message I see is that conservative Christians in South Carolina do not like the idea of a Mormon as President. They would rather have an ethics-violating adulterer as President than a conservative, family-orientated Mormon.

To some and it never fails with them,a preference must be about a persons religion or their race. It is the only way they can understand they lost in what they hopped would be achieved.

It simply cannot be that Obama must go and that in order to do that people will choose the one they think most likely to do that. What a very small world some people choose to live in. Go against me and it is either race or religion.

I still think it rather strange that "christians" of some kinds do what Christ himself would never do.

I keep trying to imagine asking WWJD after repenting ,asking for forgiveness, seemingly turned your private life around and then saying,I remember what you did and don't you ever forget it because I don't. I didn't think that was the way it worked.Sure hope it doesn't for me as I am neither liberal or independent. I don't think anyone has forgotten that aspect of his life, especially with those that diligently keep trying to make it a current aspect of his life

Newt is guilty of violating ethics. Moreover, he has been so wishy-washy over the years we really don't know what we are getting with him. He can lead and has demonstrated his ability as a leader. There is little doubt about that. What we don't know is where he will lead. His adultery does show us one thing - what he says and what he does are two different things. He will divorce a sick wife one day and go out and give a speech on family values the next. He will talk conservative principles one day and sit on a coach with Nancy Pelosi and talk about global warming the next. Who is he and what does he stand for? He has flipped and flopped more than John Kerry. Why did the Republicans in Congress toss him out on his ear?

Yes but isn't that what we ALL do? We preach the Ten Commandments but do not keep them. Our preachers preach but still sin.

So the fact that he says one thing and does another is no problem to me. Would you rather that he not speak the truth despite his failings?

Newt has a pattern of saying one thing and doing another that is not limited to his moral failings. The Republicans in Congress did not toss him out on his ear because of his marital infidelity.

I will suggest the need to speak for one's self. Personally I do not preach we need to keep the Ten Commandments to earn salvation and then fail to do that. I preach God's grace and then I rely on it.

His divorce from his first wife,as wrong as the adultery was,has taken on a life of it's own. Read a little more carefully and you will see he did not divorce her because she became ill.The marriage had failed before that and he did not serve her unannounced with divorce papers on her sick bed.HIs second wife still does not have the claimed MS

Like many people you can know the right way and speak it,but it does become more difficult to live it.

If you are going to pattern your life on what another says, generally you will fall flat on your face.It would be to be wished for that this was not in his past. You seem concerned that you don't know who Newt is or where he will lead. Many of us knew exactly who Obama was and where he was and is determined lead this country. That is far worse to many than a "repentant man that has acknowledged his past wrongs and asked for forgiveness"

So the fact that he says one thing and does another is no problem to me. Would you rather that he not speak the truth despite his failings?

Again, I suggest people speak for themselves and not others. That quote certainly does not summarize my beliefs or my experience nor that of the Seventh-day Adventist church. If a certain member feels that is their personal belief and their personal experience they should express that in the form of first person singular and not try to include others in their own personal hypocrisy by using the first person plural.

No. You fail to understand. As SDAs we believe in the 28 Fundamentals. If one doesn't believe in them then why did they state they agreed with them when they became SDA?

When I say WE I mean we in the SDA church according to the beliefs we agreed to when we became members. IF what I stated does not reflect your belief now - then perhaps you should re-look at your membership status.

WE as SDAs DO preach the Ten Commandments.

WE as SDAs believe that ALL sin and fall short of the glory of God.

Yes, we preach the Ten Commandments are to act as a mirror and reveal to us we are sinners in need of the grace of Christ. That is what we preach. We are not hypocrites. If you are teaching something else that is on you. The Seventh-day Adventist church teaches that we are saved by grace and grace alone. The Commandments show us our need for grace. There is no hypocrisy there. To say that we should all vote for a hypocrite for President because we hypocritically preach the Ten Commandments is a gross perversion of the church's teachings and completely illogical.

WE are in the same boat as Newt - saved by God's Grace. We sin just as Newt sins. We asks for forgiveness - just as Newt has asked for God's grace and forgiveness.

And the only perversion here is what you have done in your post.

If we leave the adultery entirely aside, there are still the ethics issues. Claiming tax exemption for a political activity, then seeking to mislead the ethics committee inquiring into the infringement. As I have said often, it's not the crime it's the cover-up that gets you. $300,000 fine.

Slipping and being forgiven are, as has been said, things we all do, and we all need forgiveness. A *pattern* of doing so, sustained over a long time, begs a different question: how would he slip as President?

You bring some good points Bravus.

But then it has been my observation that it doesn't matter in politics whom you have represent your beliefs as long as they represent your side.

Look the Obama-mania : They didn't care about ANY of the mud that Obama had. All they wanted was to have a black president. Now that they have experienced it - they are crying.

Some slip, some leap to the destruction of others. Can Newt slip,Yup. Obama has not,he is exactly what he told us he was.He simply has not been able to carry it all out as yet.HIs ideology takes some conditioning of most of the american people, and that takes time.Be patient if you want to see a US president that doesn't slip

Exactly, so why the double standard?

No double standard. I just prefer Christian promotions rather than Mormon ones.

Newt will be promoting family and marriage values. It means more to him because he failed.

What kind of marriage values do you think Romney (as a Morman) will be promoting?

My concern about Ging is that there are aspects of his views that seem anti-democratic.

Check his pronouncements on Supreme Court decisions that he disagrees with.

Arrest of judges and closing of courts

Purging liberals from Government

He is a disturbing individual.

Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence.
