Woody Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 The world is just getting too complex for me. They even mess me up every time I go to the grocery store. You would think they could settle on something themselves but this sudden "Paper or Plastic?" every time I check out just knocks me for a loop. I bought some of those cloth reusable bags to avoid looking confused, but I never remember to take them in with me. Now I toss it back to them. When they ask me, "Paper or Plastic?" I just say, "Doesn't matter to me. I am bi-sacksual." Then it's their turn to stare at me with a blank look. From a FB Friend Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Guest Posted January 23, 2012 Posted January 23, 2012 WELL yes the old paper vs plastic question that is a hard one Indeed it is dgrimm. Quote
Members phkrause Posted January 24, 2012 Members Posted January 24, 2012 good one Woody, I prefer paper myself, dislike the plastic. You pile them into the back of the car and take off and all your groceries are all over the place. Besides there much worse on the environment than paper. I also understand there trying to get rid of plastic? Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Administrators Gail Posted January 24, 2012 Administrators Posted January 24, 2012 Do you down there use fabric shopping bags that you reuse? You buy them and the cashier (or you) pack your stuff into them. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Woody Posted January 24, 2012 Author Posted January 24, 2012 Yes Gail. The prepaid bags make it easier to carry. Plus is saves the environment. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Administrators Gail Posted January 24, 2012 Administrators Posted January 24, 2012 But that would make you multisackual, and that is totally politically correct. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Woody Posted January 24, 2012 Author Posted January 24, 2012 You're right Gail. And I hate to be politically correct. The Truth is - I bought my bag but to this date - I've never used it. I just use the plastic that they give. For a moment I had thought it might sound good on here if people thought I was an environmentalist. But alas - NO. Administrators Gail Posted January 24, 2012 Administrators Posted January 24, 2012 Woody, what I do with mine is clip it on my purse. You can do that with your belt or on Buddy or something. If it is handy then I use it. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Woody Posted January 24, 2012 Author Posted January 24, 2012 Woody, what I do with mine is clip it on my purse. You can do that with your belt or on Buddy or something. If it is handy then I use it. Well - while that may sound good and well for a married woman - I have to consider if I would look "manly" doing such a thing. I have to draw the chicks after all. And the grocery store is prime territory. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Administrators Gail Posted January 24, 2012 Administrators Posted January 24, 2012 I forgot to add that mine crushes down to a ball no bigger than my fist. It's hardly noticed there :) Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Dottie Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I have six or seven, most of which I purchased from the grocery store for $.99. I have to put them in the front seat of my car, and sometimes I even forget them there when I go shopping. And yes, they are filled when I get home. Quote
GreatLakesGramma Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I have about 15 of them, of various types. I pack them all into one of them, along with those plastic produce bags, which I will use again instead of getting more every time. I used to come home with all of them filled, but since I broke my right wrist and can't clean/peel/cut fresh produce anymore, I don't bring so much home anymore. Cans, jars, and frozen food bags don't take up as much space. Quote Catherine God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:26. "To be a Christian means to forgive the inexcusable, because God has forgiven the inexcusable in you." -- C. S. Lewis

I have to draw the chicks after all. And the grocery store is prime territory. Now that is good information Woody. I suppose I should spend more time in the market and observe the "manly" men. -------- I do have several types of the 'environmentally correct' bags but they are in the ice chest that I have when it is over 100 degrees outside. Otherwise I forget to carry them into the market and use the plastic. After all the plastic are great to recycle: small waste baskets, take to the Senior Center (they seem to have special needs for the bags), or to the day care center ... simular uses Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God

Our sight entertained by imagination gives all sorts of indications that "stolen waters are sweet." They are not.
