Administrators Naomi Posted January 26, 2012 Administrators Posted January 26, 2012 Perhaps if you are not a christian you would think it a negative thingy. I think they are really wonderful ... after all much as I love flying, you really are flying on a 'wing and a prayer' I do think that were it me and I should be in a non-christian country and they put one of their prayer cards on my tray I would not say anything. I would just turn it over Can it be a posiive/negative thingy?? Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
Woody Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 In our society today - for sure we cater to the minority and thus the majority has to suffer. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 I think it to be a winky thingy. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Administrators Naomi Posted January 26, 2012 Administrators Posted January 26, 2012 me thinks it could be a winky blinky thingy Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
Woody Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 me thinks it could be a winky blinky thingy Yes, I agree. That's a good way to state it. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Administrators Gail Posted January 27, 2012 Administrators Posted January 27, 2012 Did they need prayer to ensure that the plane got to its destination safely? Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Moderators Bravus Posted January 27, 2012 Moderators Posted January 27, 2012 For myself, I would like to include more people of faith rather than exclude all faith from life. By all means keep the Christian prayer cards, but add Hindu, Muslim, Zoroastrian, Wiccan, Buddhist, Scientologist, Santeria etc. prayer cards. More prayer is a positive thingy. Administrators Naomi Posted January 27, 2012 Administrators Posted January 27, 2012 I always pray for safe travels be it planes, trains or automobiles Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God

Well that would be a typical liberal thingy. And it has good intentions. But the outcome of that kind of thought - is that we get just what we have now - NOTHING. and that is a bad thingy. Moderators Bravus Posted January 27, 2012 Moderators Posted January 27, 2012 No, that was exactly the point I was making. There are two possible solutions to fixing the issue (that only having Christian prayer cards excludes non-Christians). (Not solving the issue and just keeping the status quo is not a solution, even if some might prefer it.) One solution is what has been done - get rid of the cards. The other - the one I said I preferred - is to broaden the program. Two quite different things, so you can't really say liking one means supporting causing the other! Quote Truth is important
Moderators Bravus Posted January 27, 2012 Moderators Posted January 27, 2012 (And in this instance 'liberal' just means 'someone who cares about fairness and inclusion', and I'll wear the label with great pride. And note that conservatives *used* to care about those things too.) Quote Truth is important
Woody Posted January 27, 2012 Author Posted January 27, 2012 I realize that this is not the politics forum but perhaps I can interject a few thoughts without conflict. The liberal approach is to instruct the private business owner what to do. The conservative approach is to get Big Brother off his back. And if a Christian wants to own a business he should be able to have a Christian flare. And if the government wants to purchase and own an airline then they can decide what THEY deem fair and is what their PUBLIC would like. Now this is a super example in my mind of the differences between a con and a lib. It might serve as a good instruction for those wondering. Okay Bravus - have at it. Was I fair in my comparison? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Administrators Gail Posted January 27, 2012 Administrators Posted January 27, 2012 I like that term- "have at it" :) Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Moderators Bravus Posted January 27, 2012 Moderators Posted January 27, 2012 Well, yeah, that's one very small part of the difference. It's the one that gets the most attention in the US at the moment, but there are heaps of differences. The Wikipedia articles on 'conservatism', 'liberalism' and 'progressivism' provide a nice primer... In this instance, a private business made a business decision, no government fingerprints anywhere near it. So under your definition there, my comment has nothing to do with 'liberal'. Under broader definitions (which I alluded to in brackets above), it kinda does. Quote Truth is important
Administrators Naomi Posted January 27, 2012 Administrators Posted January 27, 2012 Did they need prayer to ensure that the plane got to its destination safely? My answer was off-topic in that I was not referring to the prayer cards, but to the need of prayer. Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God

And seeing that I also adventured off topic - I fully and completely offer you pardon. And I "pray" that you accept it. :) Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Woody Posted January 27, 2012 Author Posted January 27, 2012 I think though - that I might just consider placing a new rule for this thread. And that would be that each post end with the use of the term - "thingy". After all this is the official "thingy" thread. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won.
