Wonder were he was? I guess not at the same place the rest of us were!!!!! It looked like a one man race, not a two man race.

There are a lot of conservatives that have been duped into believing that Romney is not conservative. Romenycare is put forth as proof that he is not conservative. Of course, Romneycare was the conservative Heritage Foundation's idea but no one wants to remember that.

The Heritage Foundation originally supported the idea because of the free loader problem, I believe.Interesting that when realizing what a mistake it would be that they were able to acknowledge that. Some people can't do that. Most of us do remember that, but also remember that there are a few that can say "Wait a minute,I was wrong" and then there are the others

Romney is not a conservative,he is a republican.Major difference. At best he would slow the slide downward, not stop what has been put into place.

Not everyone that disagrees with a opinion of those that feel "expert" in some area's have been duped.

Some are willing to settle for all having mediocre care in the interest of fairness.

Romeny is not a cold-hearted, hate-filled, extremist conservative. That is true. He is more of a compassionate, well-balanced conservative. Extremists cannot build alliances large enough to get anything done.

Romney is like many "republicans or independents".Watered down democrat trying now to be a conservative.

Your judgment of cold hearted and hate filled is without basis and is based on those not accepting your opinion

I am not saying Romney is cold-hearted and hate-filled. As far as I can tell, he is one of the good guys. He is not an extremist. He is conservative but not so far to the right that is is past the ditch and driving in the corn field. That is a good thing. He has only had one wife too. That is a good thing too.

Sometimes it takes extreme action. What you consider hate filled is consideration for all,not just the sacred poor.

We have two neighbors, two houses apart. Very similar backgrounds/homes/obligation.

(Cold hearted conservatism)One had to take a sizable cut in pay to keep his job, dropped his employer insurance because Obama's great savings was something he couldn't afford. His house is under water due to remodeling just before the down turn.He is not expecting the taxpayer to bail him out.He did the unthinkable and took a second job,his wife is employed as well, losing her job at least 4 times but always finding another. They made drastic changes.Private insurance with a 5,000.00 deductable. They are really doing the unheard of and setting aside a certain amount every month to cover routine Dr bills.

Cable was discontinued, internet shut off. If the kids want cell phones they must earn their own. This comes only after a certain amount is put into savings. If they need the internet, pay for it or walk the five blocks to the library. 100.00 tennis shoes, good luck.

(Senseless PC Liberalism)Two doors down a neighbor sat for two years, complaining he could not find a job.Extended unemployment, food stamps, school lunches, and MN medical insurance.Poor dear, lost his unemployment) . His wife finally had enough and jerked the rug out from under him.She obtained her CNA certification and went to work, gave hubby thirty days to find a job and bring home a paycheck or she was filing for divorce and he could live in his car.It took two weeks but he found two part time jobs, one at the dreaded Wal-Mart and another pizza delivery. Both are astounded at the dollar amount of tips he receives. When not working,if he insists on spending his usual time at the local cafe with the rest of the work drop outs, leave the car and walk. The wife has stopped food stamps/school lunches/medical help, telling him these are their kids and they will do it.If she has to do it alone, then she will apply for help.

The kids know they have been consigned to some special "teenage hell".The cell phones are gone for them. Landline disconnected and they make do with one for her husband and herself. No more internet,no more McDonald's,sold their 52 inch flat screen and kept the 42 inch, which is basically useless without cable.Canceled insurance on all the toys of her husband,snowmobiles/ATV etc,no money for gas so they are parked. Everyone in the neighborhood that knows this is "Yes,you go girl"

Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this.

I don't think so. Extremists are trouble. One of the very attractive attribute of Adventism is that it avoids the extremes.

I am reasonably certain you knew that I was not talking about Adventism extremism.

However I am sure our neighbor has come to the conclusion that his wife taking extreme action was trouble for him.

He is one of the many you have said in the past should not be required to work below their former pay grade and are entitled to government(taxpayer) handouts.

Funny how when the gravy train stopped he has found out that yes, maybe they still qualify as poor but they do not have to leech of others.Imagine,he and his wife are actually taking care of their own needs, while he is working below his pay grade. One more dead beat off the dole because of his wife's extreme action.

To bad it took two years

Finding yourself married to a man that would rather have his family cared for by others could do that to a woman

Anything or anyone that deprives a able bodied man of sitting on his backside for two years is cold hearted to you

Maybe she doesn't believe in "richer or poorer" when a able bodied man makes them deliberately poorer.

She frankly was afraid of her children having a "welfare mentality" as they grew up.

Funny how it worked,he wasn't so crazy about living in his car and could actually find work.

What annoys the welfare crowd is she found a job and insisted he did and they no longer need to be dependent.

Sounds like there are a lot of things she doesn't believe in. She obviously lacks a Biblical worldview. She could have probably motivated him just as easily by sending him to the couch until he got a job. Far too many people throw the big "D" word around too lightly. "For better or worse, richer or poorer, until death do us part..." Many men tied their manhood to their job and ability to support a family. When a man is laid off that certainly qualifies as "worse" in the "for better or worse" equation. His wife threatening divorce is that last thing he needs. A woman like that is just plain cold-hearted - egocentric to the extreme. It is truly sad that women like that still exist in the world today.

You are again very deceptive and selective in what you quote. Is there a word that describes that? I think so

Maybe she doesn't believe in "richer or poorer" when a able bodied man makes them deliberately poorer.

Your right' date='she was uncomfortable with taking handouts while hubby was spending his day on the couch,on the lawn chair,or at the local cafe.

Qualifies for self pity.If his ego was that fragile then he should have gotten a job long before the two years were up

It was the best thing he needed. He is now working and acting like a man in the home.Sounds like he is now going to get his CNA certification as his wife did and eliminate the one part time job.He has made arrangements to continue to work weekends delivering pizza as he is rather fond of the dollar amount of the tips. What a difference for his family and the example he is now setting for his children when his comfort level was threatened. To say nothing of the needless thousands of dollars of taxpayer dollars

I can see Bonnies point of view...where a man abdicates his responsibilities in the home and becomes very lazy and prone to just recieving...not making an effort to provide for the family...An extreem case, as outlined, to be sure...

I can also see Shanes point of view...Once employed, but now down on his luck, needs time to fine work, cant seem to find it...a time of bad luck....

And I see two points of view, talking about different times/situations and people talkin' past each other.....

amazing...simply amazing....

I'm just sayin....

Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve.

We know that the Biblical justification for divorce is adultery. Some also include abandonment and/or a spouse leaving the faith. However no where in the Bible will we find laziness or depression as grounds for divorce. Now a woman may be right to expect her husband to bring home a paycheck just as a man expects a bit of romance in the bedroom. It seems to me that if the man is unwilling to bring home the paycheck, it would be fair for the woman to make him sleep on the couch until he does. The idea of getting divorced over such a thing reeks of a gold-digger upset that her money tree quit blooming.

No,what you said reeks of a type of prostitution,Bring home the money or no romance for you.

Average family, hardly a gold digging wife.Husband refuses to work.Gold digging and expecting the husband and father to at least contribute what he can are to entirely separate issues.

His inability to find a job for two years was suddenly forgotten when forced to man up and do what he should have done 2 years before. Not a extreme situation, food stamps and unemployment meant many could get by without "working beneath their pay grade".Especially when many of these "men" had wives working at least part time.

I agree it does seem like a two-man race now. We know that Obama has a Biblical worldview, thanks to his Christian pastor, Reverend Wright. I am interested in how much the LDS church has shaped Romney toward a Biblical worldview.
