Ok, so let me see....it's feb....primarys end...when? general elections are in November....

Six months....9 months....and there is another 10 weeks before inauguration.....

.........surely you jest....or worse...

The unemployment rate went down because the labor pool got small as more people have given up looking for work. We still have a sad situation. As I look at the weekly lists of construction projects coming up for bid there is no illusion that things are getting better. The economy is growing but not enough to keep up with the population. Wages are decreasing. We are in a bad situation.

Not at all. Employers have to look at the big picture of the future. They have to plan a year in advance - at least. And most these days are looking forward to a Republican Administration.

When I was laid off in '08 I heard than that it would be 5-6 years, nothing new there. I get emails still from all the work related places. It looks like it has eased up some.

Research the true job numbers and they are not nearly as rosy as Obama admin would like to imply

Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this.

Research the true job numbers and they are not nearly as rosy as Obama admin would like to imply

First off, argue with the men who have economic degrees, who are in the economic fields and who somehow qualify as resource people for journalists and anchor people. David STockman, President Regans' economist for over 12 years, RELUCTANTLY gave into these numbers and said that it's a good thing for the country. He also said, in your defense, that ONE month of good numbers does not make a trend. [He is such a good republican!!]

just because you want to see Obama fail, and our country fail, is reason enough for you to pooh-hoo the article with mis-information and redirection.

The truth is that Bush set up the economy to succeed. 'Bama came in and pretty much destroyed our nation. Now that there is a glimmer of hope because he will soon be fired - the jobs are starting to return.

Excuse me????

I recall that the crises that started the recession started on Bushes watch and that HE asked congress to bail out the banks....

Just because you listen to sources that want to rewrite history is not incumbent upon you to propagate that republican myth...

Job numbers are very easy to spin, in either direction, precisely because they depend on participation rates. It's true that jobless numbers can fall without more people being employed, if people cease looking for work.

A longer term trend than just one month will be needed to make sense of it, and I agree that we should look below the 'headline number' to see what is actually happening with employment.

Thing is, it'd be nice to see Republicans cheering on an improving economy and better employment outcomes: sure, it may enhance Obama's chances of re-election, but it also puts food on American families' tables. Or would you rather they stay out of work until after November?

Cheering a false claim of better employment doesn't do anything for the people that are unemployed, underemployed and have just plain quit looking for work.If you read all of the data there is not much to cheer about

But that's exactly what everyone is been asking for?????????? They want less government jobs and more private sector jobs!!!!! Besides as hb says, who cares, a job is a job no matter who is hiring.

In Texas sales tax revenue has been increasing slowly for the last 21 months. That is a nice sign but it is not a roaring one. These recent employment numbers really aren't all that great due to the numbers leaving the work force. I wish they were better. I wish everything Obama had tried worked. But that doesn't seem to be the case.

and it would be nice if the republican party would work to put America back to work instead of watering down, and removing good pieces of legislation that the American public and Obama wants...

Congress' Constitutional role is to check and balance the power of the executive branch. Congress is not suppose to be a rubber stamp for the President. The problem we have now is that the President gave the middle finger to all the Republicans when he first took office. Now that they won control of the House he whines and cries that the Republicans don't want to play with him. He need to man up and become a leader - someone who can reach across the isle and build coalitions. That is hard to do when a guy spent two years giving his opposition the middle finger and lecturing them about how elections have consequences. Yes, indeed. Mid-terms have consequences too. Paint or get off the ladder.

But liberals don't/can't understand that Shane. I'm surprised you do, even in a limited way. Maybe this will help those who don't even have your grasp on it:

I think he's saying that whenever the gov't claims to have created, or saved X number of jobs, it's bull hockey. I know that's not really what the link is about, but that's what he's saying. Hope that helps.

This is true of Republican governments too, right?

I actually agree - as I said above, unemployment numbers are notoriously easy to spin, in any desired direction, and should be taken with a grain of salt.

What difference does it make? This is where we are at and what we have to deal with.

Clinton is no longer president, neither is Bush,it is now Obama.

Or is everyone supposed to yawn and say Oh well
