What about the first lady candidates? Which are women of substance and in what ways?

I like the fact that she has overcome MS to achieve success in dressage and a number of other endeavours.

Guess I could include Mrs Santorum and Mrs Paul here, but I don't think anyone thinks either lady is likely to become First Lady.

I must say that I have been very very very very very very very pleased with Michelle Obama. She has promoted non-political causes like healthful eating and fitness. She has done a great job with the White House at Christmas time and been a wonderful First Lady.

I agree, and not taking anything away from her, I haven't really seen the first ladies before her being bad either.

No, I have to say I thought Laura was the best thing about the Bush presidency.

It seems to be a good tradition that first ladies are "nice", i.e. not overtly political. My favorite was Barbara Bush.

Jackie and Hillary? I guess women that put up with cheating husbands impress some folks. My favorite is probably Michelle Obama - she is a fantastic First Lady.
