How does he wink though? Approval or Disapproval?

Ps 35:19 Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause.

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

"And the times of this ignorance God winked at, but now commands all men everywhere to repent." Acts 17:30.

"The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.

Ya, right???? Just another problem with words of Jesus verses words of others who never knew Jesus. Hmmmm? And I suppose the majority think that when one attempts to enter heaven with sin in them but believe it's covered by the robe/blood of Jesus, that God the Father will wink at them too?

Personally, I don't think it is a good thing trying to fool God.

Dr. Rich, you're misunderstanding Paul. No one is suggesting that we can fool God. All Paul meant was that God doesn't hold people's ignorance against them if they've never had an opportunity to know the truth. So Paul was saying that since the gospel is being preached to all the world, God now commands people to repent and believe the Good News.

The Old Testament as well as the New teaches that when we come in true faith to Christ, His blood covers our sins.

It is taught in the sanctuary service, for one thing. The blood of the sacrifices typified the blood of Jesus that takes away, or cleanses of, sin.

Then there are these verses:

Psalm 51:2

Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity,

and cleanse me from my sin!

Psalm 51:7

Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;

wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

1 John 1:9

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Rev. 7:14

I said to him, "Sir, you know." And he said to me, "These are the ones coming out of the great tribulation. They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Rev. 22:14

Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates.

John 3:16-17

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

Read Rev. 22:14 over again. You will see that people have to wash their own robes. They must overcome the world just as Jesus did. There is nothing here about being saved by grace and having fooled God.

It's your own choice so don't blame Jesus for your own mistakes.

Pk, Please read Rev. 19:7-8, "...for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready. And it was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen , bright and clean, for the fine linen IS the RIGHTEOUS ACTS of the Saints (the 144k and 5 wise virgins).

Dr. Rich. I would never believe in the god that you present. Never. I would reject that kind of a god though - with out question.

If He would give you a hoe and point to the garden, He would expect us to go after them weeds and loosen the ground around the plants. It should be done cheerfully as He don't need the things to eat, we do, we are the benefactor. And besides He has done 95% of the work for you by enabling you.

Same with our salvation, He has enabled us to do His will over the wiles and powers of the evil ones and the world. Again it's a cheerful duty, we reap the harvest, eternal life.

Yes, I have heard those same words from many who call themselves a 'christian' but I did NOT write those words, I simply say and teach what Jesus said and taught as it's not for me to argue with God.

Many (most) people who have read the book of Revelation would rather not deal with the warnings found in it, such as found given to the Laodicea, the ones who were found to be luke warm and thought they were in need of nothing because they say they love Jesus and He loves them and that's all one needs to know to be saved by grace. Of course this type of belief is all because of their faith that they have already been saved becasue they mistakenly believe they have been born again, much like the 'born again churches' all over the world.

And of course, they have built their house of belief upon the foundation built upon the sand, the words of Paul and others who never knew Jesus, so soothing and full of warm fuzzies, which is the 'sand' Jesus warned about in Matthew 7:24-27. Yes, that wide road to destruction will be filled with those who have been deceived by the great deceiver because he is good at it!

So is Dr. Rich on to something, the Laodiceans are spewed out of His mouth!

Re 3:17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

Re 3:16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Ya ain't gonna tell a laodicean that, no siree, he ain't one of them thar ones!

The problem? He won't examine himself to see if he is in the Way, Christ's Way!

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

I suppose even a blind squirel can find a nut from time to time. Many different theological views contain some truth from time to time. Even the righteousness make a mistake from time to time (like when Peter was told to put away his sword).

You gotta look at the big picture, over time, the fruits, the trend, to determine the truth.

I can relate to the blind squirrel thingy. I am blind in many ways. But God doesn't mind how many nuts I have. What matters is who this nut knows. God will wink if but only accept Him as a friend. That is what counts. Not the nuts.

Was Peter 'righteous' at the time he cussed and swore three times before the [censored] crowed? Nope, but he was on the way as he honestly repented which made him righteous at that time. Same can happen with anyone, it's the repenting and seeking truth that counts. Mistakenly believing one is in need of nothing is a dangerious thing to do, as I also KNOW I am in need of knowing more truth. I have never said that I am saved or even righteous, but I do strive to become righteous. And yes, even King David messed up, but he too was considered Righteous by God.

The Christian God of Paul must be in a much better mood than YHVH was back in the days of Moses. YHVH had no problem using holy fire to destroy the rebels in the camp or using his earthquake weapon to open up a hole in the ground to swallow the complainers and the disobedient. I don't believe YHVH is the sort of being who would wink at willful disobedience to his commands, or, his code of ethics for humanity.

We shouldn't treat the violation of the commands of the LORD lightly. Never mind what Paul said. Some of his baloney is responsible for centuries of disunity throughout the Christian world.

Good theory. To quote words from The Rev Mr Black "You gotta walk that lonesome road, you gota walk it by yourself. Ain't nobody gonna walk it for you"

We can be there to support when the person asks for support

We all have to face the judgement by ourselves and that makes it our responsible to study to show ourselves approved.

How do you know that, Woody? Why not open more options to them and give them more roads to choose from. Isn't that what the purpose of preaching is, watchman on the wall and all that?
