Members abelisle Posted February 16, 2012 Members Posted February 16, 2012 A newfound NBA sensation!. He's Taiwanese-American, a Harvard grad with a degree in economics. Plays for the NY Knicks as their starting point guard. He's simp-lin-ly Linsational! He's a global phenomenon due to his cinderella story. Nearly cut from the team, played in the NBA D league. No coaches saw potential in him and being Asian-American didn't help. But now he has lead the Knicks to 6 straight wins and lifted them out of the doldrums. Her's the catch. He's a devout Christian who was thinking of being a pastor! Already, comparisons have been made with him and Tim Tebow. He himself attributes his newfound success to God as this whole affair being a miracle. If you haven't been following him, just go to any news outlet. As for me, I unashamedly have a mancrush on this dude! LOL Alex (can you tell I'm a Knick fan Quote We are our worst enemy - sad but true. http://abelisle.blogspot.com
M. T. Cross Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 He was also sleeping on his brothers couch till just this week. Seems like a good guy. Quote

A Knick's fan...There is nothing worse than a knicks fan...[said in the most gentle and teasing and envious mannor that I can ] And he's got a "mancrush"....O lord, what IS this world comming to???? [also said in a very teasing mannor] Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. George Bernard Shaw
Woody Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Kobe says that this little squirt is not as good as people are making him out to me. But that was a number of days ago. I tend to trust Kobe though. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Members phkrause Posted February 16, 2012 Members Posted February 16, 2012 Alex what's wrong with the sports thread???? I already started a thread for Jeremy Lin. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Members phkrause Posted February 16, 2012 Members Posted February 16, 2012 Some quotes from Kobe: “Players don’t come out of nowhere,” Bryant said. What he was trying to say was this: The talent’s there, but sometimes the opportunity isn’t. It takes the right circumstances and timing, the right coach, right system. And sometimes, it takes desperation to try anything. And for these New York Knicks, well, Jeremy Lin constituted anything. He played extremely well. If that’s the way he’s been playing these last three, four games, he played phenomenal," Bryant said. "We watched tape on him, came up with a strategy we thought would be effective. [but] knocking down his jump shot, penetrating and getting past our guards into the paint, [it didn’t work]. And this is a quote from a sports announcer: Usually when Kobe and the Lakers come to the Garden, it is a major story since Bryant is one of the best players of all time, and the Lakers are always among the league's top teams. Despite Los Angeles' struggles this season Kobe is still a dominant force, but he was upstaged by Lin in the tabloids and on the court. There are many more, I have not seen any negative ones. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Woody Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Thanks pk. I heard it on Fox. Something to the effect that Lin was over-rated and not as good as people are making him out to be. But that was early on. Perhaps Kobe has changed his mind. Like the rest of us. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 Alex what's wrong with the sports thread???? I already started a thread for Jeremy Lin. From what I have observed - this has grown beyond a "sports story". It is a cultural and human interest story. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Members phkrause Posted February 17, 2012 Members Posted February 17, 2012 I guess you have a point Woody. And a good one at that. And Oh yea, As far as I've read Kobe never said that, unless we can verify that, I for don't buy that Kobe would say such a thing. Kobe's a pretty decent guy. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

Members phkrause Posted February 17, 2012 Members Posted February 17, 2012 Not sure? I'd have to hear what they said. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Woody Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Not sure? I'd have to hear what they said. They quoted Kobe as saying that Lin was over-rated, had much to learn and was not that good yet. Members abelisle Posted February 17, 2012 Author Members Posted February 17, 2012 A profound and perceptive theological perspective on Jeremy Lin. ClubV12 Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Harvard you say? Wait, basketball players don't come out of Harvard. CEO's, Presidents, Business moguls come out of Harvard, not ball players. Whats up with that? :) Quote
