Q.E.D. Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Hope this promotes Bible study and discussion. Never noticed this before but apparently the wicked lost have a "remnant" also. What is this "remnant" a remnant of and who are they? Could they be those that survive the 7 last plagues until the return of Christ? "21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh."(Rev 19:21) Quote Satanic Verses-Salman Rushdie.
Gibs Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Q E D, "Remnant" here would mean the remaing ones, this then finishing what was transpiring in the verses before this one. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Q.E.D. Posted February 17, 2012 Author Posted February 17, 2012 Q E D, "Remnant" here would mean the remaing ones, this then finishing what was transpiring in the verses before this one. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. "17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; 18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. 19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. 20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. 21 And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh." (Rev 19:17-21) "20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone" (Rev 19:20) It would appear that “These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone" would be cast into the lake of fire before the “remnant”. Otherwise they would not be a "remnant". However we know that “fire comes down out of heaven and destroys the beast and false prophet and the wicked lost all at the same time. "7 And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, 8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."(Rev 20:7-10) So how can there be a wicked lost “remnant”? Quote Satanic Verses-Salman Rushdie.
Gibs Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Q E D. It's just the final cleanup that is being brought to view. Here is the Greek for "remnant" in Rev 19:21, loipoy loy-poy' masculine plural of a derivative of 3007; remaining ones:--other, which remain, remnant, residue, rest. See Greek 3007 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Quote A Freeman In Jesus Christ
dialoguewithus Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Rev 20:7-10, Concordant Literal Version: And whenever the thousand years should be finished, Satan will be loosed out of his jail. 8 And he will be coming out to deceive all the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to be mobilizing them for battle, their number being as the sand of the sea. 9 And they went up over the breadth of the earth, and surround the citadel of the saints and the beloved city. And fire descended from God out of heaven and devoured them. 10 And the Adversary who is deceiving them was cast into the lake of fire and sulphur, where the wild beast and where the false prophet are also. And they shall be tormented day and night for the eons of the eons. (the final two eons, the first of which will then be virtually over) This will occur at the end of the 1,000 years. Rev. 19:19-21, CLV: And I perceived the wild beast and the kings of the earth and their armies, gathered to do battle with Him Who is sitting on the horse and with His army. 20 And the wild beast is arrested, and with it the false prophet who does the signs in its sight, by which he deceives those getting the emblem of the wild beast, and those worshiping its image. Living, the two were cast into the lake of fire burning with sulphur. 21 And the rest were killed with the blade which is coming out of the mouth of Him Who is sitting on the horse. And all the birds are satisfied with their flesh. This will occur before the 1,000 years. "The rest", I would take to mean those remaining from verse 19, that is, the kings of the earth and their armies. Quote
ClubV12 Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Among the wicked who survive the seven last plagues and are alive when Jesus returns there is also some wicked who be raised up to join them. Those that pierced Him, those that reviled Him, well be resurrected to see Him coming in glory. Among the righteouss who survive the seven last plagues and are alive when Jesus returns there is also some righteouss dead who are raised to see His coming in glory. Among them, all those righteouss who died under the third angels message! This is a special, limited resurrection just before His return, where some are blessed and some are cursed as both groups will once again live to see with their own eyes His return. Being cast into a lake of fire is a bit misleading. More correctly stated, in my opinion, is that fire not only rains down from heaven, but from the earth below and this fire utterly consumes all the wicked (angels included of course) at the end of the 1,000 year period. Like Noahs flood, it didn't just rain from above, water came up from beneath the earth as well. Water everywhere, fire everywhere. Quote
dialoguewithus Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Rev. 20:10 And the Adversary who is deceiving them was cast into the lake of fire and sulphur, where the wild beast and where the false prophet are also. And they shall be tormented day and night for the eons of the eons [the final two eons, the first of which will then be virtually over]. This includes the New Jerusalem eon. The identical language is used in Revelation 22:5 (CLV) And night shall be no more, and they have no need of lamplight and sunlight, for the Lord God shall be illuminating them. And they shall be reigning for the eons of the eons. (From John's perspective, both eons were still future, as they are still.) See also Rev. 21:24. Quote
dialoguewithus Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 Daniel 7:18 (CLV) Yet the saints of the supremacies shall receive the kingdom and they will safeguard the kingdom unto the eon, even unto the eon of the eons. (See the only other use of the phrase “eon of the eons” in Eph. 3:21.) What does “eon of the eons” mean? The scriptures define their own terms and expressions. In Dan. 2:37 we have “king of kings”, while the equivalent “King of kings” appears in 1 Tim. 6:15, and Rev. 17:14 and 19:16. So, as in English, this phraseology indicates “the greatest one of a class”. A corresponding phrase appears many times in Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Daniel, Hebrews, etc. Here’s an example: Exodus 30:10 (CLV) Aaron will make a propitiatory shelter on its horns once in the year with the blood of the sin offering of the propitiatory shelter; once in the year shall he make a propitiatory shelter on it throughout your generations. It shall be a holy of holies to Yahweh. In Hebrews 9:25, we have: Nor yet is it that He may be offering Himself often, even as the chief priest is entering into the holies of holies year by year by the blood of others, Here two places are in view; the two holiest places. This phrase corresponds with “the eons of the eons”, as we see in Rev. 22:5 and 20:10. These are the greatest of the eons, being the “millennial eon” and the “New Jerusalem eon”. The final eon on the New Earth is also referred to as “the eon of the eons”, and “the eon of the eon” (Heb. 1:8), being the fruit of the 1,000 year eon. Quote
