Moderators lazarus Posted February 22, 2012 Moderators Posted February 22, 2012 Mitt is once again establishing his conservative credentials, NOT! “If you just cut, if all you’re thinking about doing is cutting spending, as you cut spending you’ll slow down the economy,” he said in Michigan. “So you have to, at the same time, create pro-growth tax policies.” go Mitt go, he he he Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. Moderators Bravus Posted February 22, 2012 Moderators Posted February 22, 2012 But, for conservatives, 'pro-growth tax policies' is code for 'cut taxes on the wealthy'. Said it before, will say it again: you don't balance a budget by cutting government revenues. And before anyone makes the claim, study the Laffer curve: cutting taxes in the US *will not* increase revenues. Quote Truth is important

Dr. Shane Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 study the Laffer curve: cutting taxes in the US *will not* increase revenues. At some point taxes are so low that cutting taxes will not increase revenues and I think we are at that point. George W. Bush didn't cut taxes to increase revenues, he cut taxes to stimulate an economy that was in recession. That does work. His tax cuts had a sunset provision. The idea was that the economy would recover and the taxes would go back to the previous rates. Ultimately what grows revenues is increasing the size of the economy. We don't need to raises taxes in order to raise revenues if we increase the number of people paying into the system. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor...
