Hello,

I have heard several people saying that the name Vatican comes from two latin words "vatis" and "can" which mean divining and serpent.

But when I search these words from online latin dictionaries, I do not find anything like that.

The closest I found was "faticanus" which means prohphetic which is interesting too, but nothing with serpent or snake.

Is this just a rumour or is there something I haven't found yet?

Cheers

no matter what the meaning, the book of Revelation identifies it as the seat of Satan.

"The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.
