nuff sed Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 For those of you who might know Ruth C. Aldridge I am reporting that she reached her 100th birthday Jan.30 of this year. Ruth is the widow of F.R.Aldridge who was well-known for his 46 1/2 years of service totally in the Atlantic Union. She stood by his side supporting him in his various roles as ABC Mgr., Conference Treasurer, Union Auditor, Bermuda Mission President. Trying to save money for the Bermuda Mission he asked Ruth, "Do you think that you can run the ABC?" She said, "Yes".. "OK" was his response, "I'm Officially the Manager but YOU do the work!".. She currently resides in the home of two nurses who take care of their own 99 yr.old mother. Nuff Sed Quote

Members phkrause Posted February 23, 2012 Members Posted February 23, 2012 Wow that's 'nuf sed. Do you remember Ray Funka? If you do, do you remember his wife Muriel? And if you remember her, do you remember her mom, her name escape's me at the moment, she lived to be 106. She died a few years ago. I hope your Mom, I'm guessing that she your Mom, lives another few years. How's she doing, does she have her health still? Anyway happy belated birthday to her. Administrators Naomi Posted February 23, 2012 Administrators Posted February 23, 2012 How cool is that. She lived a life of service and is still with family and friends. It's a little late, but please wish her a Happy Belated Birthday Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God

nuff sed Posted February 24, 2012 Author Posted February 24, 2012 PK...My first encounter with Ray Funka was when he was a college student colporteur out on Long Island, N.Y. I forget who his partner was but they boarded with my Great-Aunt Mary, a little 'old' Italian widow. If she ever charged them a cent for staying the whole summer it would be a great surprise. When I started work in the ABC in NY City Aunt Mary said to me, "I thought that you were going to be a Missionary".. I only wish that she had lived to see me leave the US in 1963 and spend 15 years working in five different countries. If the Adventist church decided to nominate a few 'saints', Mary Moscalo would be right up there near the head of the list. Nuff Sed Quote
Members phkrause Posted February 25, 2012 Members Posted February 25, 2012 nuff sed, you will be able to tell her some day. So are you from NY? Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
nuff sed Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 PK..... I was born out there in Bellport, N.Y.(Long Island) but lived in the state three times over thirteen different years. We met a couple years ago when I invited you to attend the AUC Alumni meeting in Apopka.......... Nuff Sed Quote
Members phkrause Posted February 25, 2012 Members Posted February 25, 2012 Yes I remember. I wonder if AUC will really open again? By the way I grew up in the Bronx, actually lived in the Jewish section of Manhattan for a few years when we first came over from Germany. Than moved up to the Bronx to a Jewish neighborhood. I also worked out on Long Island for FFT before getting married, than lived right next to Long Island Jewish Hospital where Connie was working. Than moved to California for a few months when FFT moved there. But we didn't like it at all so I moved back to NY and than moved up to lancaster. Than last year we moved down here to Florida to be closer to my Mom to help her out. So I'm wondering do you happen to know a few people I worked with at FFT. Harry Marcelino, Harry Montello, Elliot Halverson. Of course there were many others, but these were the ones I spent most of my time with playing ping pong etc. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.
