Supposing that you prepare some food on friday or anytime before that, then on the Sabbath, when you go to eat, it turns out that the food is bad. In this senario, would it be right or wrong to buy or cook on the Sabbath?

Supposing that you have spent years about three years studying, and you are now on the final year, then it turns out that your final exam is on the Sabbath. You have tried everything, and the date's or hours cannot be moved to be out of the Sabbath hours. Missing the exam would mean no graduation the following year, you would have to wait for the next exam cycle, and you would still have no guarantee that that exam will fall outside of the Sabbath. Extra notes are that you are in a forein land, paying rent and other living expenses, meaning that if you are to wait for six months, for the next exam cycle, the expenses will still be present, while you had budgeted until the current time. It would then mean that you have to look for funds to cover the extra six months time. You can fly back home, then fly for the exam, then fly back, which are all expenses which funds need to be sought after.

Will it be right or not right to write the exam on the Sabbath?

A number of SDAs today would not need such special scenarios to find themselves confronted by the Sabbath question. Many are faced with it regularly on Sabbath afternoon when they decide to go out to eat after church -- just for fun.

Why start with the obscure cases when the every-day case is right in front of us?

Your response was not helpful.

For your information:

- We simply do not eat out on the Sabbath, hence it it not something that we face regularly.

- The scenarios are not fiction, merely for a discussion, but are real life.

I just read a book called, "One Miracle After Another," about the life of Pavel Goia. He faced just such a dilemma about Sabbath exams, and determined he would not sit for them on Sabbath, no matter what. The Lord worked a miracle for him, and the exam day was changed by proclamation of the nation's leader. Such miracles don't always happen, but the experience is an example showing how God honors those who determine to follow Him.

Good questions!

Answer to first question.

(A little humor follows so don't take your cloaks off and pick up the rocks.)

If you are feeding the homeless rush down to Walmart and get some food and cook it if you like or take them all to the Pizza Hut, it is no ones business but God's and yours.

But take heed and beware because if you and they don't eat on the Sabbath then you will make the six o'clock news like thousands of others that have starved to death in a single day when they did not eat durning the sacred hours of the Sabbath.

(On a serious note.)

If you have a health problem like diabetes you might eat a some bread anything else you find in the fridge. By doing this you won't pass out due to low blood sugar.

Answer to second question.

"4 Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him."(Deut 13:4)

Have a blessed Sabbath Day. :)

That's a GREAT book. Nich needs to read it!

We are back to the old premise that "I" have to fix the problem. Why is it always IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII? What's wrong with standing for principle and letting God take care of the problem? Nuff Sed

I like this, too! :)

I usually ask myself what would be the merciful thing to do? Pulling the ox out of the ditch is permitted.

Have you even read the fouth commandmentin Ex. 20? Huh? is your school exam working for your living? Do you make money by taking the exam? Don't you think God will help you with the exam on Sabbath? Can't you testify to others that God can help you? But you do make a good point about this. IF you could have the exam any other time, that would be best--but just remember ONE of God's Laws: Necessity is always lawful! It is a maxin of God's law--found in the 1856 maxims of law--God's common law!

I don't know that I have anything to add that hasn't already been said. But, this is an excellent - real life - dramatic question. And there has to be a personal answer to it.

I believe that if you are right with God - no matter what choice you make - it will be the right one for your pesonal situation.

But I feel TOTALLY out of place to advise you. As I am not in your shoes.

All I can do is pray.

May we be one so that the world may be won.

Well in that case, the 2nd century Roman Christians are without fault for abandoning the Sabbath in order to avoid persecution under Emperor Hadrian.

What do you mean? Did they have to work for a living on Sabbath? You don't make any sense here. Perhaps you don't remember the story of the cow in the ditch? If it's NECESSARY, then it's always lawful! period!

This has NOTHING to do with changing the Sabbath to Sunday. Let's get real.

He did? Where do you find that my friend? God is a God of justice. One who steals is a sinner. If one does not point out this wrong, then they would be in violation of justice.

Now, if the guy stole your pants because he didnt' have any and you had more pants, then that would be a whole new issue.
