ClubV12 Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Researchers note improvement in cognitive ability of elderly (70+ plus years old) by engaging in World of Warcraft online game. "The researchers noted that the improvement in thinking skills is likely not specific to this particular game. Any game that includes "multitasking and switching between multiple cognitive abilities such as memory and spatial manipulations, and reasoning," would be effective, they wrote." May I recommend a more powerful and effective tool? Bible study! Nothing will quicken the intellect and challenge the brain more than the deep thinking the bible inspires in those that come with a humble and teachable spirit. Online games are a distraction and a counterfit to the remedy God has provided to improve our mental health. Quote

cricket Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 I would suggest that playing a game that "includes multitasking and switching between multiple cognitive abilities such as memory and spatial manipulations, and reasoning" may actually enhance an elderly person's ability to think and reason such that even Bible studies might be more productive in the long run. It has long been known that playing "brain" games, exercise, proper rest, laughter and eating right help to keep the brain young. Quote

If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
