cricket Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Way to go! What does a kilo amount to in pounds? Quote
Moderators Bravus Posted February 27, 2012 Author Moderators Posted February 27, 2012 About 2.2 lbs. I've lost 7 kilos, or about 15 lbs. I want to lose about 20 kilos, or 44 lbs, in total - or maybe a little more. We'll see what the photos look like when I'm 84 (185) instead of 104 (230)... Quote Truth is important

Members phkrause Posted February 27, 2012 Members Posted February 27, 2012 That's great Bravus. Not sure what your roteen(sp) is. But a number of years ago my daughter and a friend wanted to join a gym,but needed us to cosign. Well needless to say me and the wife joined instead for a really, really great discount. Anyway I would go 6 days a week and take one day off, the Sabbath. On three of the days I'd work out on the Nautilus machines and on the other three I'd ride the Life-cycle machine. Each day I'd also use there pool and swim laps. After my first workout I went in to take a shower and noticed a weight scale, so I weighed myself and couldn't believe what it was telling me! I was 232.5 lbs. And at that time I was still pretty active playing basketball and softball, etc., so I really didn't think that I was that heavy. Ha! Like they say the scale never lies. So I started reading EGWs book "Counsels on Diets and Foods." Since I had about 30 minutes of time when riding the life-cycle machine, instead of watching the big TVs they had. I started taking some of the advice, like no eating between meals, eating a big breakfast, smaller lunch and than very little for supper, like a very small meal or just fruits. Also cut out all soda, that was tough and juice and replaced that with just drinking water. It took about six months or so but I got down to 180 lbs. The other thing was not to eat after 6 pm. Have managed to keep that up till this day. I've now gotten down to two meals a day, since retiring, most of the time. If I eat real early than I might do three meals but that's a rarity. My biggest problem is keeping up with the exercising these last few years, LOL. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
ClubV12 Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 "Less of me", congrats Bravus, and I love the thread title for another reason. It's also a wonderful prayer, less of "me" Lord. Quote

Moderators Bravus Posted February 28, 2012 Author Moderators Posted February 28, 2012 It's also the title of an old Christian song that I like, so I'm pleased that resonance works for some others. So far it's been achieved more by dietary changes than exercise, pk, although I've added a few bits and pieces. It will definitely be necessary to add more exercise to the mix to avoid plateauing out before I get to my targets. I'll join a gym... but it's possible I'll be changing unis in a few months so I don't want to commit until then. Getting out on the bicycle and going swimming more will probably be the low-impact first steps. Quote Truth is important
Dottie Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 You are looking great! Keep up the good work! Quote
Woody Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Hey Bravus. Congrats. And just curious - have you ever lost a stone before? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology. Â
Moderators Bravus Posted February 28, 2012 Author Moderators Posted February 28, 2012 Yeah, been up and down a bit. Since returning to Australia nearly 6 years ago I think the highest I've been is 104 kg and the lowest is 92 kg. That's a difference of about 25 lb, or a little under 2 stone in the old money. I plan to get down to about 84 kg and then re-assess, which would be a loss of about 44 kg in total, or a bit over 3 stone. Will see how things look at that point. Quote Truth is important

Woody Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Now that there is less of you Bravus - I am wondering what part was lost. And perhaps we will hear a different political persuasion coming forth from now on? One can only hope. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. There shouldn't have to be arguing, but as God mentioned "lets reason together." That should be the goal, not snide remarks and gossip to further our view or opinion's.
