Satvic Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Hello folks! Today I wish to appeal to your greater knowledge of pro-Christian material and ask you whether you know a book that would convert a rational non-Christian person, non-spiritual person, materialistic person - to Christianity. I find myself incompetent and lacking proper words/approach to sound convincing when explaining the true nature of reality to people. So if there exists a book, the sole purpose of which is efficiently explaining the real world we live in to any person, please tell me the name and author. Thank you! Quote
M. T. Cross Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 10 to 1 odds that the majority of people will suggest the Bible. Cause it is, you know, the premier Christian book. Welcome to CA btw Quote

The "book of our lives" is a good book. But I doubt any written book will do that. The Holy Spirit convicts and converts people. And uses each of us to plant seeds. I have to be honest though. From what I am hearing - you are approaching it on a more cognitive and argumentitive level. Is that right? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. LifeHiscost Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 If there is to be only one book relied on, for the primary purpose of enabling one to be a successful witness to the Truth that God is Love, it is without doubt the Holy Bible, as Jesus identified Himself as the Word. As an adjunct to the Word, my best suggestion would be "Steps to Christ", by Ellen White, most especially as after reading it, it will be clearly seen to be Holy Spirit inspired. If you are looking for a secular book that will be helpful, my best suggestion is the book written by Dale Carnegie, entitled "How to Win Friends and Influence People". While it is doubtful the author was a follower of Christ, understood as he gave by his own word, testimony that he didn't believe there had been a book written until the one he wrote that expressly addressed the best way to live one's life. However upon reading it I saw so many principles that clearly voiced many found in the Scriptures, that I redlined them and associated particular Scripture texts to the principles made clear and made effort to put them to practice in my own life, not only helping to change my own experience for the better with others, but also giving me better insights on how the Bible could be understood in personal application for the glory of God. I will have to admit I often don't live according to my best estimation of how one would best receive God's approval, but it has been been a strong motivating force for the better. Hope this is helpful to you. "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me."John 12:32 KJV God blesses! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
Members phkrause Posted March 2, 2012 Members Posted March 2, 2012 I would definitely agree with EC, the Bible, especially the NT. Where the life of Jesus is displayed for us to follow. And yes welcome to C/A Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

But, when I approach Bible study with prayer for understanding it becomes 'real' Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God

Hmmmmm......So, you are wanting a book that converts someone to Christianity.....I know of NO BOOK that will convert someone to Chrisitanity....Besides, it's the Holy Spirit's job to do the converting....And if you don't think that is enough, then you don't know the HS.... Believe it or not, the bible says that YOU are the ambassador to him for Christianity. So, you had better do some "boning up" as to what to say in favor of Christianity...I would suggest finding everyday items reflected in Jesus' life...and be that representative that tells a non-believer what Heaven is like....start there...and if you truely want to see this person in heaven, you will learn...just keep praying....and listening to God...and remember, God doesn't send nobodys on mission trips...He sends Ambassadors.... If you can reveal or know of any whose lives have been changed from following the pursuits of the world, to following the lowly, wondrous Lord of glory, without the aid of the Holy Scriptures or at least hearing the preaching from its' pages or some other illumination of the Word, you have an edge over me. SivartM Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I doubt that the Bible is what you're looking for in this case; it's not exactly a prime source of rational arguments for its own veracity. A book logically showing that the Bible is true and what the implications of that are would be better, but let me know if anyone finds one. And, welcome to CA! :) Quote "Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much." - Oscar WildeDo to others whatever you would like them to do to you.
