bonnie Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 A Statement from Rush March 03, 2012 For over 20 years, I have illustrated the absurd with absurdity, three hours a day, five days a week. In this instance, I chose the wrong words in my analogy of the situation. I did not mean a personal attack on Ms. Fluke. I think it is absolutely absurd that during these very serious political times, we are discussing personal sexual recreational activities before members of Congress. I personally do not agree that American citizens should pay for these social activities. What happened to personal responsibility and accountability? Where do we draw the line? If this is accepted as the norm, what will follow? Will we be debating if taxpayers should pay for new sneakers for all students that are interested in running to keep fit?In my monologue, I posited that it is not our business whatsoever to know what is going on in anyone's bedroom nor do I think it is a topic that should reach a Presidential level. My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this. Quotes by Susan Gottesman
Guest Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 The left says more absurd things than he did all the time, and they NEVER apologize for it. This is just another example of Rush's high moral fiber and honesty. When he makes a mistake, he admits it publicly, and takes the high road. You don't ever see that on the left. Quote
Moderators Bravus Posted March 4, 2012 Moderators Posted March 4, 2012 Hmmm. OK. BTW, he apologised for two words, but *not* for the suggestion that women ought to post video of their sexual encounters online. That's not 'absurd', that's 'morally bankrupt'. Quote Truth is important
bonnie Posted March 5, 2012 Author Posted March 5, 2012 Hmmm. OK. BTW, he apologised for two words, but *not* for the suggestion that women ought to post video of their sexual encounters online. That's not 'absurd', that's 'morally bankrupt'. What is morally bankrupt to begin with is Obama and another of his phony victim sob stories to gain his objective. This is not the 23 year old college student but a democratic activist .First reviewed Georgetown insurance policy and then joined with the express purpose of challenging it. Lying about the cost of birth control in any event. No one has yet explained why others need to pay for very sexually active unmarried individuals. No one has explained this woman's right to challange what a religious university has as policy according to their religious beliefs. While definitely not politically correct there has always been a name for women that want to have indiscriminate sex and others pay for it. Self control is free and does not infringe on the rights of others. Condoms are very inexpensive and quite effective. Birth control pills can be purchased for as little as 9.00 per month without insurance. Obama is morally bankrupt for believing a parent should be proud of a daughter that is 30 years old and wanting others to pay for "sexual freedom".He is president,Rush is just a entertainer Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Guest Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 he apologised for two words, but *not* for the suggestion that women ought to post video of their sexual encounters online. Women do that anyway, that's nothing new. He was making a joke for crying out loud. Have you never ventured into the land of bad taste unintentionally, while trying to be funny? I bet you have. And nobody crucified you for it. Quote

I do not need to understand them political system to know wrong from right. B. But I do understand it, as I've repeatedly demonstrated here. If someone on the left 'joked' about porn in this way you'd be ranting about the moral decay of society. Yet if Rush does, it's all in fun. One standard for all. Quote Truth is important

Yet if Rush does, it's all in fun. One standard for all. There has been plenty said by the left that has escaped many of you. Selective moral outrage? This was a phony scenario set up by Obama to garner support for his force feeding of what he wants to the US citizen.Everyone is supposed to be outraged that women can't have the indiscriminate sex she wants and have others pay for it.If the poor dears are so ignorant, helpless and poor they can't figure this out, maybe they need to practice a little self control.Or keep a supply of condoms at 20 cents a piece in their purse. Most insurance companies cover prescriptions for legitimate medical issues. I am on a prescription for Parkinsons, yet I do not have Parkinsons and it had to be approved for my circumstance. If this is such a concern why the hype, lies by omission and outright lies to get all the sob sisters in a row It was not the brightest thing Rush Limbaugh has ever said, nor should it have been said using the words he said. The left/supporters are usually the ones using s%^#&,W#*&% bimbo and worse. His analogy was not that far off base but I wish he had used some common sense instead of getting in the same muck the left does on a regular basis. If adults want sex on demand outside of marriage, pay for the privilege. One standard for all is a great idea.So is just a little personal responsibility. Moderators lazarus Posted March 5, 2012 Moderators Posted March 5, 2012 This is just another example of Rush's high moral fiber and honesty. Wow, not even conservative pundits say that. You just lowered the bar for who can be considered highly moral and honest. Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. Members phkrause Posted March 6, 2012 Members Posted March 6, 2012 The only reason this man apologized is because he realise's he might just lose his sponsors. And as a matter of fact he did lose some. And today I heard they are leaving him left and right (pun intended) so he apologized again!!!!! Dr. Shane Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 he apologised for two words, but *not* for the suggestion that women ought to post video of their sexual encounters online. That's not 'absurd', that's 'morally bankrupt'. The videos comment comes from a free condom program back in the 1990s. It was back than that critics were yucking it up and, very much tongue-in-cheek, suggesting that if tax payers must pay for condoms then sex videos should be provided. Rush's recent comment about sex videos in exchange for birth control was just just an echo of that but he failed to put it in context. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Dr. Shane Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 This is just another example of Rush's high moral fiber and honesty. When he makes a mistake, he admits it publicly, and takes the high road. I don't know about Rush's "high moral fiber". Rush is Rush and he says a lot of stupid things in an attempt to be humorous. This incident really tells me more about liberals that are complaining about it than it does about Rush. President Obama is trampling on religious liberty and some liberals are more concerned about Rush's choice of words than the fact that Obama wants to force the pope to buy birth control. That is very disturbing to me. Rush's point is valid. The woman is single and going in front of Congress to complain that her Catholic university doesn't provide health-care coverage that includes birth control. I think there are some Adventist universities that ban premarital sex. So not only is this girl attending a Catholic university and admitting to having premarital sex, she wants the Catholic university to pay for her birth control. If birth control is so important to her, why doesn't she go to a different university that has health-care insurance that provides it? The university I attended had a clinic on campus that provided free birth control to students. While the words "s##t" and "prostitute" were over-the-top, the girl did go in front of Congress and admit to living a sexual immoral lifestyle as defined by the Catholic university she attends. Moderators lazarus Posted March 6, 2012 Moderators Posted March 6, 2012 . While the words "s##t" and "prostitute" were over-the-top, the girl did go in front of Congress and admit to living a sexual immoral lifestyle as defined by the Catholic university she attends. The point is his use of slurs to make his point. It's obvious that if he hadn't used those slurs there would not have been such a furor. This was simply an own goal. We cannot be surprised, this is what he has built his career on. Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. Dr. Shane Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 We cannot be surprised, this is what he has built his career on. Exactly! Rush says stupid things all the time. The only difference with these comments is that some in the media decided to make a big deal out of it. It was a bad attempt at trying to be funny. That's Rush - like him or hate him. He is what he is. This whole conflict really says more about Rush's critics than it does Rush. President Obama is trampling on religious liberty and Rush's critics are more concerned about an off-color joke than the loss of religious freedom. Miss Fluke's testimony really said this: My need to have birth control paid for by my health-care insurance is so great that it justifies the civil government violating the religious liberty of the Roman Catholic Church. Moderators Bravus Posted March 7, 2012 Moderators Posted March 7, 2012 Nup. Still missing the point. People have human rights, corporations don't have human rights. Even churches (which are corporations that pay no tax) don't have human rights. Only humans. Quote Truth is important
bonnie Posted March 7, 2012 Author Posted March 7, 2012 Nup. Still missing the point. People have human rights, corporations don't have human rights. Even churches (which are corporations that pay no tax) don't have human rights. Only humans. How does forcing anyone/corporation/religion to provide birth control free or otherwise become a human right? No one is denied the right to practice birth control. olger Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Limbaugh should have apologized, but let us avoid offering Fluke too much sympathy. She paid for the bed; now she gets to — er — lay on it. Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Dr. Shane Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 People have human rights, corporations don't have human rights. Things are different in the US. See --> Corporate personhood Corporate personhood is especially important when it comes to religious liberty. All of the religious rights the individual has are shared by an organized religious denomination. Thus the government cannot ban the free exercise as practiced by an individual citizen or by an organized religious denomination. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor...
