Dear Rush:

I know you apologized for calling 30-year-old Sandra Fluke a “[censored]” and a “prostitute.” The language was certainly over the top. I know what you were thinking. Sometimes people need to be hit over the head with a 2×4 before something sinks in.

Before the watching world Ms. Fluke told us that she was sleeping around. Promiscuity and sex before marriage were once considered social taboos. No one denied that people engaged in these types of sexual encounters, but such women were generally looked down upon. I can remember people saying, “It’s OK to have sex with these types of girls, but they’re not the ones you bring home to your parents and eventually marry.”

Like you, I have reminded people that the larger issue is not about contraception. I just read a Christian Science Monitor article that continues to perpetuate the lie that conservatives want to deny women contraceptives. We don’t. We just don’t want to have our money taken from us to pay for them. If Ms. Fluke wants to engage in promiscuous sex, then she should pay for it. I don’t want to be an unwilling accomplice to her immorality and stupidity.

I’ve gotten to the point in my life that I would be willing to pay for contraceptive devices for women like Ms. Fluke if they promise never to have children. The thought of them breeding is disturbing.

I’ve read that a number of companies have withdrawn their advertising from the show. The online backup service Carbonite is one of them. Here’s what CEO David Friend said in a written statement:

“No one with daughters the age of Sandra Fluke, and I have two, could possibly abide the insult and abuse heaped upon this courageous and well-intentioned young lady.”

Can you believe this? He calls Ms. Fluke’s testimony about her self-professed promiscuity “courageous.” Am I to assume that Mr. Friend would not rebuke his own daughters for sleeping around and broadcasting it to the world? What a shame.

I found that two mattress companies – Sleep Train and Sleep Number – pulled their ads from the show.

My wife and I had just purchased a Sleep Number bed. When I heard about the company’s cancellation of its advertising, we cancelled our order and went with a competitor. I was very nice to the person taking my call. No yelling or expletives. He told me that they were keeping track of the responses. He then asked if I would like to leave a comment. I did.

My message was simple. Sleep Number had every right to complain and pull its advertising, and I had every right to cancel my order. That’s what makes America great. The issue, I said, was not about contraception but freedom. I did not appreciate the government forcing me to pay for someone else’s immoral behavior.

I liked the way you brought in liberal hypocrisy. We know it’s pandemic, but liberals never acknowledge it, and if they did, would never do anything about it. This was my favorite: “Will President Obama now give back the $1 million that Bill Maher just gave his super PAC? You want to get some of the tapes that Bill Maher has called Sarah Palin? The ‘c’ word over and over again?”

Just like Bill Clinton made oral sex acceptable to middle school students, now other young girls will argue that it’s OK to be promiscuous. Even President Obama supports Sandra Fluke. I shudder to think what our nation will be like in 20 years – if it’s still here.

I have.Far more interesting is the background of this woman and how the attempt was made to have her testify.

One of the reasons for her attending this University was because of the insurance policy of a religious institution and to challenge it.She is or was a democratic activist.This was a hearing on another matter entirely.

Most women do not take birth control pills for medical reasons.Nor do single women.They take them so they can play and not pay.Let them,I don't care if a woman has a different partner every night.Her business,she plays,let her pay.Birth control is very inexpensive even without insurance.Can't afford the 9.00 a month without insurance from Wal-Mart,or the cost of a condom doesn't give anyone the right to mandate any religious institution or business to provide it free or otherwise.

Walmart Launches Phase Two Of Prescription Program With New $4 Medications And Increased Savings

Company removes more than $610 million from healthcare system in first year of $4 program

BENTONVILLE, Ark. – Sept. 27, 2007 – Walmart Stores, Inc. (NYSE: WMT) today announced phase two of its $4 prescription program with changes that will help even more Americans deal with the high-cost of healthcare. The program – which has already saved Americans more than $610 million in its first year – has been expanded in two key ways:

* More medicines covering more categories – Important prescription medicines have been added to the $4 program covering glaucoma, attention deficit disorder/attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADD/ADHD), fungal infections and acne. Fertility and prescription birth control will also be included at $9, compared to national average prices ranging from $24 to $30 per month and saving women an estimated $15 to $21 per month – $180 to $250 annually.

* Faster savings on new-to-market generics – One month ago, the antifungal Lamisil® had an average price of $337.26. The generic equivalent, terbinafine, is now available through Walmart, Sam’s Club and Neighborhood Market pharmacies for just $4 for a commonly dispensed quantity up to a 30-day supply, saving customers $333.26 per prescription. Carvedilol, the generic for Coreg®, which a month ago cost $119, will now cost $4 for a commonly dispensed quantity up to a 30-day supply, saving customers $115 per month – or approximately $1,300 per year.

With the changes announced today Walmart now covers most commonly treated medical conditions and continues to drive down healthcare costs for families. Through the program, the company has provided Walmart, Sam’s Club and Neighborhood Market customers in 16 states alone with savings of more than $396 million combined, or more than $15 million per state. * After phase two of the program, a total of 361 products made up of 157 medication compounds are now available at Walmart pharmacies nationwide. * Walmart has added 24 new $4 prescriptions – including timolol maleate (glaucoma), terbinafine (antifungal), carvedilol (cardiac), and three $9 women’s medications – including generic birth control product for Ortho Cyclen® and Ortho Tri-Cyclen®, and a fertility product, Clomiphene. Walmart has also introduced a similar discount program in Puerto Rico, Mexico and Brazil, bringing significant savings to customers in those markets. Today, the program is available at 4005 Walmart, Sam’s Club and Neighborhood Market pharmacies throughout the United States.

Advertisers line up to be on Rush's show. He actually picks the ones he "allows" to run on his show. Paul Harvey use to be in a position to do the same thing when he was alive. This whole controversy just drives Rush's ratings up so he can charge the next batch of advertisers even more.

Bill Mar, on his show, called Sarah Palin a dumb tw*t, and a c*nt. He used the C word on her over and over..and over. He referred to her and Michelle Bachman as two stupid bimbos.

Now maybe it's just me, but I think that is far worse than anything Rush said. And where was the outrage when the entire mainstream (left wing) media, attacked Sarah Palin brutally, and her whole family. Even her children. They called them names, (that were untrue btw) and made up all kinds of lies about them. They literally tried to destroy the Palins.

Did any of them apologize? No! So as it stands, Rush is a cut above all of them, by doing the right thing and apologizing. A TALL cut above.

When I see them and/or Bill Mar start apologizing, or if I see Rush's rhetoric rise to anywhere near their level. Then I'll listen to some of the dumb stuff I see posted on this thread. But until then, all this fake outrage by the left is just comical at best.

Maher has called Palin a “dumb t..t” and dropped the C-word in describing the former Alaska governor. He called Palin and Congresswoman Bachmann “boobs” and “two bimbos.” He said of the former vice-presidential candidate, “She is not a mean girl.
