This is a long over-due need which is coming to fruition.

Quote:
PREVENTING ABUSE: ARM vice president and chief risk management officer Arthur Blinci wants to put tools and resources in the hands of local church leaders. A partnership with Shield the Vulnerable equips them to better protect children, he said.

Now if we could do something to help the children in the cities and villages throughout the world.

"If you do it unto the least of these...." Matthew 25

A new child protection program from the Seventh-day Adventist Church’s risk-management unit is galvanizing efforts to shield minors from abuse and misconduct.

The church should be complimented for promoting the protection of children from abuse. What I don’t understand is this: If protecting children from abuse is a noble goal, how come the church is silent regarding the ultimate form of child abuse: the actual dismemberment, poisoning and killing of children before birth?

I have sent pro-life donations to my local church and to the General Conference as well, and each time my checks were returned uncashed with the explanation: “The church does not have a pro-life program.” How come we don’t have a pro-life program?

Not long ago, Mark Price started such a program on the internet. He named it “Adventists for Life.” The church demanded that he deregister his domain name and his web page was closed because the church attorneys complained to the service provider.

Our previous General Conference publicly stated several years ago that our church is in fact pro-life. How can I believe this, when the facts indicate the opposite? Our own publications have plenty of evidence that our church did allow out own Adventist hospitals to provide abortions on demand beginning in 1970—three years prior to the legalization of abortion in the U.S. mainland.

Is this evidence that we are pro-life? If we are not pro-life, then we are pro-death. There is no moral middle ground here. Am I seeing visions here? Am I blind?

For consistency sake, if we are interested in protecting children from abuse, then we whould slso show even more motivation in the protection of children from the ultimate form of child abuse: abortion!

You know, sometimes it just makes one sorry that any new subject is posted. Somehow it always becomes derailed and the good that was becomes lost in controversy.

Sometimes the more you harp on a subject the more deaf ears you encounter.

And, I am not making a statement for or against … just concerning this constant hijacking of topics.

I am not hijacking the topic. You are forgetting the fact that the title of the thread is: "Adventist Risk Mgt. Steps Up Efforts to Prevent Child Abuse" Unless you believe that unborn children are not "children." The best definition of the word "child" is found in the Bible. We have several biblical texts stating that so and so was "with child."

If unborn children are not children, then what are they? Would you say that one minute the unborn is not a child, and the next minute it pops out and miraculously becomes a child?

Abortion is the cruelest form of child abuse, which means that you should not condemn me for including this as a form of child abuse. It is the epitome of child abuse in my view!

I hear you Nic ... but is it necessary to continually beat the same drum on every subject?

As for being the cruelest form of child abuse, I have to wonder just how many kinds of child abuse you have personally witnessed?

The worst form of child abuse is the one that is felt by the born, the ones who are the most "conscious" of what is happening to them. The ones who are hungry, or starving, all day every day, day after day, and no one comes to feed them.

The ones who are homeless and no one takes them in, who are left to be abused and/or tortured by whoever passes by.

The ones who are kidnapped from their homes to be in militias, sold into prostitution...

The ones who are painfully conscious of what is happening to them...probably the ones who are wondering, "what about me?" should they see poster boards trying to prevent abortions.

"Why doesn't anyone care about me?"

Maybe there are times they would have preferred to have been aborted than live the way they do, with no relief in sight.

Are you suggesting that murdering a comatose patient or one who is asleep is a less offensive than depriving a person of food on a timely basis? Can hunger be worse than deprivation of life? You lost me here!

“The ones who are hungry, or starving, all day every day, day after day, and no one comes to feed them.”

Are you talking from experience? Have you ever be deprived of proper nutrition for an extended period of time? I have. I know what it means to get up in the morning and find no food in the pantry except for some green onions.

When I was 8 or 9, my dad was taken to the hospital, and my mother used the few pennies she had to buy fruit and eggs—not for us to consume—but for me to go from house to house to sell those item so we could buy bread and potatoes.

I was dying to eat some of these fruit, but could not do it for fear that we would be unable to buy bread. I know what it means to see the ice cream vendors go by without the ability to buy one.

One day I told my sister: “When I grow up, I will buy you an ice cream!” Are you saying that if someone had killed me while asleep and felt no pain, this would have been better than going hungry for days

“The ones who are homeless and no one takes them in, who are left to be abused and/or tortured by whoever passes by.”

I’ve never been homeless, but I know what it means to live in a house with no windows, dirt floor and roof made of straw. On rainy days, there was no dry place in the house, because the roof leaked everywhere.

I know what it means to get up in the morning to find out my only pants had been washed and I needed to stay in bed to keep warn while the sun dried them. Are you telling me that this was worse than being dead? Do you really know what you are talking about?

“The ones who are painfully conscious of what is happening to them...probably the ones who are wondering, "what about me?" should they see poster boards trying to prevent abortions. "Why doesn't anyone care about me?"

All that time I was conscious of our situation, but I never felt that I wished to be dead or that it would have been preferable to have been aborted. This never crossed my mind!

I did see how other kids had all kinds of toys, while I had none. I often dreamed that a stranger had given me some toys or a bicycle, but I would never have chosen to be dead!

“Maybe there are times they would have preferred to have been aborted than live the way they do, with no relief in sight.”

Are you talking from experience? Do you have any statistics to support your strange philosophy? Besides, suppose we could predict with accuracy which unborn will eventually suffer from deprivation and pain, would this justify killing them. Does the Bible give us such freedom to deprive others from their most precious asset: life?

Is there any wise physician who can predict which child will eventually suffer or be abused? If not, then is it safe to play God?
