cheddar Posted March 10, 2012 Posted March 10, 2012 I believe I know the answer to this question but I am just curious to see if there is someone else here who knows it. The Bible says that "our citizenship is in Heaven." Phil.3:20 (king James) How is that? sky The king james version actually says ‘our conversation is in heaven’. The word conversation could easily be translated as community, citizenship or commonwealth so citizenship is accurate. Jesus Christ is the savior of the world (the entire world – past, present and future) which means by his perfect life he has redeemed all human beings. John 3:17 At the very end there will be but two classes of people – those who are allowed back into heaven (citizenship) and those who are denied access (citizenship revoked). The class who are allowed back are like Jacob who value the birthright (a symbol of salvation) above all things. Jacob committed grave sins to obtain the birthright, he lied and stole and coveted the birthright above everything which only shows that the actions may have been wrong but his heart was right. The class who are eventually lost forever are like Esau. The birthright was his from the beginning. The people who are denied access to heaven are not excluded for their bad deeds, the gift of salvation was placed in their hands by the Holy Spirit and they like Esau despise it and throw it away. Their hearts were wrong. In the last days the 1888 message is like the birthright and the bad news is that most SDA have already thrown it away. Quote
skyblue888 Posted March 10, 2012 Author Posted March 10, 2012 Okay may be I could have worded my question differently. Why does the Bible say that our citizenship is in Heaven? skyblue888 Posted March 12, 2012 Author Posted March 12, 2012 Sky, It means we are already in heavenly places. We don't need to go to heaven, because we're already there! Right? Right. If we are in Christ we are sitting in heavenly places. Eph.2:6. Another way of looking at it is by reading the following: "The garden of Eden remained upon the earth long after man had become an outcast from its pleasant paths. The fallen race were long permitted to gaze upon the home of innocence, their entrance barred by the watching angels... When the tide of iniquity overspread the world, and the wickedness of men determined their destruction by a flood of waters, the hand that had planted Eden withdrew it from the earth." P.P.62. So where has it been all this time? The Lord transplanted it in the New Jerusalem. "Before the ransomed throng is the Holy City. Jesus opens wide the pearly gates, and the nations that have kept the truth enter in. There they behold the Paradise of God, the home of Adam in his innocency." The Great Controversy,646. It has not been affected by the curse. The garden of Eden was Adam and Eve's first home. It is still our home, the home of the redeemed. That is where our citizenship is, in Heaven. It will be our home at the time of the restitution of all things. Right? sky Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." S.C.36.

Dr. Rich Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Strictly conjecture on her part which can't be verified by words of Jesus my friend. Many think or thought that Isaiah 65:19-25 is a picture of heaven, but it is not as humans would still die--just as they would in the garden of Eden IF the tree of life was not there. This is what God said He would give or provide for Israel IF they became righteous. They failed--both times, hence we read "fallen, fallen is Babylon....." Quote

Members phkrause Posted March 15, 2012 Members Posted March 15, 2012 Strictly conjecture on her part which can't be verified by words of Jesus my friend. What do you think that Jesus needed to address every single thing when he came? or Actually name names? I can see it now, as he's talking to his disciples, hey guys could you please sit down, I have something to tell you that later generations especially Dr Rich will want to know. There will be one last prophet that I will call, her name will be Ellen Harman. But before she excepts my call 2 or 3 others will not want to carry that load. Oh and by the way she will marry a fella by the name of James, so really her name will be Ellen G. White. Come on Dr Rich, not everything has to be spelled out. Sorry I don't buy that. Lysimachus Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 I wonder if heaven is a planet with a continent on it? Or "continent" just a term to represent a certain "contained place" with heavenly planets? Or is heaven just the New Jerusalem floating in space? Or is heaven an interconnecting network of many galaxies and planets, with one main planet as the capital with New Jerusalem on it? I'm willing to bet on the latter. Oh I can't wait to get there and find out!! :D Quote ~Lysimachus (Marcos S.)
