bonnie Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Posted on March 13, 2012 Chris Matthews: GOP Willing To "Outsource" Election To A Mormon 442206 MSNBC's Chris Matthews says Republicans are willing to outsource the election to a Mormon in order to win the presidency. Matthews also likened the process to calling India or another third-world country to get your computer fixed. On top of that, Matthews called Romney a cultist as well as his two opponents, which are Catholics. "I think religion matters," Chris Matthews said on MSNBC's "Ed Show" with host Ed Schultz. "Reverend Al, you, Ed and I know the way that the people in these polls down there say they think the president is a Muslim. I mean, the majority in one of those states thinks he is, the other 30-some percent don't know. In other words, they don't know whether he's lying about his religion, which is a pretty strong indictment right there. So, culturally, they are out to lunch for the president. There not going to vote for President Obama. So who they going get to beat him. That seems to be on their mind's now, not who they like. They are willing to outsource it to a Mormon." "It seems to me, if they can win -- I said it's almost like calling up India, or somewhere in the third-world to get your computer fixed. You don't care who is fixing it, just fix the damn computer. They want to get rid of Obama so they're willing to vote for a guy they don't like or trust his religion. But they have no choice," Matthews said during MSNBC's primetime coverage of primary results on Tuesday night. "They have three, or two RCs -- Roman Catholics running and a Mormon so the three cultists running. I have to pick one of the three cultists as they see them. This isn't as funny as I'm making it, but it's ridiculous to pick a guy they really think is the other, the heretic, the Muslim, what a strangest of religious prejudice is at work here, they pick the guy they don't like to pick a guy they hate worse," he finished. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this. Quotes by Susan Gottesman
Dr. Shane Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I think there is a lot of truth in what Matthews is saying. One of the big reasons Romney is not running away with the nomination is because he is a Mormon. Other than that he is clearly the most qualified and electable candidate. However if he can get the nomination... watch out Obama. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Members phkrause Posted March 14, 2012 Members Posted March 14, 2012 So what I'm interested in about this story is do you agree with him? or Do you think he know's what he's talking about? I for one am not sure that he doesn't have a good point. I was listening to a interview on NPR where a reporter was asking some people down south just before the election's and it seemed that Matthews was that far off in his opinion. As far as I know Chris Matthews is Catholic. Is he saying that he belongs to a cult? I seem to recall that at one time his hero and idol JFK attended the same church.Did JFK belong to a cult? When you outsource something it is usually overseas, that fits Obama more clearly than Romney. I am not a great fan of Romney but it doesn't have anything to do with his religion.I would vote for him as anyone is superior to Obama. It does seem he is being dragged kicking and screaming to a more conservative stance Why can't a Mormon serve as president? We have no idea what faith Obama claims if any. The most enlightning thing he has said concerning what he believes is that he adheres to "collective salvation".Not sure how that is so different than Mormons with proxy baptism As for Chris Matthews and his silly thrill up his leg I put little stock in anything he says Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Dr. Shane Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 It does seem he is being dragged kicking and screaming to a more conservative stance Actually Romney and Huckabee were the two conservative candidates battling it out in 2008 that gave the nomination to McCain. The only reason some Republicans think of Romney as a moderate now is because extremist, right-wing commentators have cast him as one and their listeners swallow the propaganda hook, line and sinker. Romney did not go from being a conservative in 2008 to being a moderate in 2012. He is just as conservative now as he was then... perhaps a little more so. But he is still Mormon and that is what some Republicans have a hard time with. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity

But he is still Mormon and that is what some Republicans have a hard time with. While it may be true that some republicans need someone to tell them what they think,I think it is also true that those that have chosen to walk down the middle of the road deciding which way to jump on any issue have to demean and dismiss any opinion or belief that a conservative may hold. I did not care for Romney in 2008 and don't in 2012.Talk radio had/has nothing to do with my personal likes or dislikes. He would have been preferable to McCain but still would not have been my choice. For those that spend their lives walking the middle road I know it is a unbelievable leap to understand that many have been raised with certain values that shape their lives/opinons without talk radio or the ideology of the liberals. I believe abortion on demand is wrong.Almost all partial birth abortions are infanticide/murder as far as I am concerned.I can say I believe a gay lifestyle is wrong/immoral/deviant without hating or fearing gays.I don't have to run thru a list of other sins as bad or worse to prove I don't hate/fear gays To a liberal that is being homophobic. I believe that to demand rights others have to pay for is not a "right".While I believe we should have a limited safety net and churches/private charities should care for the poor,I don't believe it is the governments role to determine my "christian" giving. It is not the governments role to force any religion/business to provide birth control. While I want seperation of church and state,I don't believe that means that the mention of God in a public place is almost hate speech. To form and hold an opinion is not judgmental. In the eyes of most liberals and many independents the only opinion/belief that is moral and right is to condemn those that have a belief that something is morally wrong or to condemn those that don't like walking down the middle of the road Most that hold these beliefs do not need talk radio to convince them or shape their beliefs Those that continually accuse others of having to have someone else shape their beliefs possibly need that in their own lives and naturally assume others are also incapable of arriving at their own conclusions/beliefs. Romney wasn't a true conservative in 2008. He is either moreso now or is trying to sound as if he is. Either way he is far superior to the current administration Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. American citizen is 'overseas' because he isn't white... On the topic, wonder how an SDA candidate would fare...? In the minds of some it seems race is of the utmost importance. Concerning those that is true of it may be unthinkable that race is not uppermost in the minds of others. My comment was Chris Matthews idiotic statement and the controversy over the birthplace of Obama, not the color of Obama's skin. Not until I read your "rather kind post" inferring I was making some kind of racial comment did skin color enter my mind. As to what would be the response to a SDA candidate,I have no idea, except the liberals would be in a whirlwind finding every word they could build something negative on. There are many SDA's in "good standing" that I would not want teaching my children/grandchildren in a classroom or church setting. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. That goes both ways. If I'm not mistaken there are a number of SDAs that are in the Senate and the House that had a number of things said about them! And also if I'm not mistaken they are democrats! And a few are "labeled" as conservative not the oh so ugly "liberal" label. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. And a few are "labeled" as conservative not the oh so ugly "liberal" label. This is concerning the presidential candidates if I am not mistaken. Those running for congress or the senate generally do not come under the same kind of fire. I believe there are two SDA in congress.Sheila Jackson Lee,someone who the liberals certainly would not have any quarrel with, the other is conservative but I don't recall reading much of him in the news. I have not checked on those in the senate. If this were a conservative SDA running for president do you really think they would fare any better or as well as those running.Liberals ridicule Gingrich for his past behavior and have mocked or dismissed any possibility of true conversion,as have several SDA's here. Santorum is looked at as a fanatic by liberals Romney is under scrutiny for being Mormon.Absolutely nothing is said about Obama's rather convoluted or at times convenient religious beliefs, including those of his spiritual mentor and the man closer to him than a uncle,Jerimiah Wright Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make.
