Stan Posted May 4, 2005 Posted May 4, 2005 Got this from Bob Kyte yesterday
Quote:
Dear Family and Friends: Nancy and I want to bring you up to speed on a new development for us here in Boise. Sorry that this is not a personalized email to each of you but we decided it would be best to get this information out fairly quickly to each of you. I have served Pacific Press for over 25 years. For the past 16 years I have served as president and general counsel. They have been exciting years and have afforded me a great opportunity to commit my abilities and energies to the mission of Pacific Press. After 16 years, and carrying on a busy law practice at the same time, I decided, with Nancy’s encouragement, that it was time to refocus my energies in a single direction. We looked at other opportunities that were offered, including going to the General Conference to head the Office of General Counsel with six attorneys on staff. However, the idea of moving to the Washington DC was not appealing for a number of reasons so we declined this opportunity. On August 11, 2005, the meeting of the Pacific Press Constituency will take place. This occurs every five years. At that time a new Board of Directors is selected for the coming five years and the officers are appointed, or re-appointed as the case may be. With the notice I have given our Board chairperson, Lowell Cooper, I anticipate a new president will be selected for Pacific Press on August 11, 2005. I will assist with whatever transition is helpful to Pacific Press and the new president. I expect that after August 11, I can begin to focus all of my energies on my law practice and, according to Nancy, have some weekends free to do something other than work. I will be staying with my present firm joining Rick Skinner and Chuck Fawcett, the two attorney partners of this firm that I have worked with the last 15 years, as a full partner. We anticipate that the firm will change its name to Skinner Fawcett Kyte (or some such variant) about the end of this year. I have a number of exceptional clients that I enjoy working with very much and this will allow me to enhance my practice for them as well. As much as I have enjoyed my work at Pacific Press and will miss many aspects of it, I am looking forward to being able to work out of a single office with a single work focus. And, I won’t miss the hours of sitting on airplanes and in airports! My connection with Pacific Press will remain positive in many ways—through friendships and, of course, through Nancy’s continued work as Trade Marketing Director at Pacific Press. I also anticipate assisting Pacific Press with its legal needs having provided this service as part of my role as president and general counsel in the past. We are very comfortable with this decision as we move forward and just wanted to share this news with our family members and friends. Thanks for staying in touch.
