Great New Word For Theological Townhall?

I just discovered a great new word through a good friend; and we both decided that it was an excellent word to describe the Theology Townhall Forums:

Quote:
internecine

What do you think?

"People [rarely] see...the bright light which is in the clouds..." (Job 37:21)

"I cannot know why suddenly the storm

should rage so fiercely round me in it's wrath

But this I know: God watches all my path

And I can trust"

"God helps us to draw strength from the storm" - Overaged

Faith makes things possible; it does not make them easy, Steps To Christ

The Word Web Dictionary adds these two distinctions:

Quote:
Characterized by bloodshed and carnage for both sides

mutually ruinous

It was these two distinctions that made the word seem appropriate

"People [rarely] see...the bright light which is in the clouds..." (Job 37:21)

"I cannot know why suddenly the storm

should rage so fiercely round me in it's wrath

But this I know: God watches all my path

The key concept of this word is "internal" conflict within a defined group. The implication is that the conflict is self-destructive to the group.

While many other words regularly do come to mind about this sub-forum, this one is a very good fit!

"Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good."

"Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."

"I love God only as much as the person I love the least."

*Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth.

(And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

And as that relates to this place, I will remember it with this memory help:

Internet scene!

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

I voted no.

For sure it is an "internal struggle". However, I don't think it is "ruinous".

This "internal struggle" can actually be helpful and promote growth and longer life. The "struggle" does not have to be "ruinous".

It might seem "ruinous" to those whose point of view is going down to defeat and who have a clearly weaker position. Such a view is not necessarily FACT but is merely the opinion of those whose part is being changed.

It is entirely possible that the "internal struggle" is actually going to make the "truth" stronger and those who hold this truth much more powerful.

Thus, I see the Theological Townhall as the place where we struggle to know and find the Truth. That means allowing people to vent their views freely without fear that the "orthodoxy" will oust them from the "struggle" with only the singular objective to protect the "orthodox view" from any and all comparison with any other view.

Part of the struggle has indeed been whether to protect the "orthodox view" and to oust all others and their unorthodox views from the discussion. Or, to at least give the "orthodox view" such an advantage that other views are bound for defeat and the orthodoxists can claim victory every time and feel safe in their concocted cocoon.

No matter what you view as the "orthodox view" on this forum I don't believe that it needs nor should get any "special" protection. Let all views fly and see where the chips come down. Each one can then make up their own mind what they accept and what they reject.

Thus, I believe people are free to grow (hopefully in Christ) or not grow as they decide for themselves their way.

No I do not agree that "internecine" is a good word for theological townhall.

We are addressing different views of "therory" and truth dispells therory or theology. I do not or will ever believe in theology. It is unneeded. What is needed is the truth as it is given in the Word. Theology puts a twist on every thing it can according to different wants of what they want the Word to say. It only says one thing, see it, hear it and believe it and let mens twisting go down the drain pipe.

Man is a twister of the truth of God's Word and what it takes to dispell it is a good solid prentation of truth on the given subject and not from the twisted versions of the Bible. They are all "copyrighted" except the KJV. Why? because the have to have so many changes from the original to be copyrighted. The Word of God can't be copyrighted, it must be brought down with out a jot or tittle added or left out.

Learn the language of the KJV and be a straight shooter of His Word.

Anything copyrighted is a "book" and cannot be rightly called the "Bible"!

1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
