I realize that a prophet might be called upon to work while sleeping. But seriously - is the prophet required to work 24/7 ? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. They had opinions like you and I (well maybe yours and mine are a bit higher Woody). All kidding aside Prophets had opinions like every other human. Some were right and some were way off. However, when God put them on the "job" they were God's absolute Word. It is unfortunate that most in the SDA Church .org put Ellen White as on a thrown sitting right next to God in absolutely everything and 24/7. The time prophets were on the "job" varies from prophet to prophet. Quote

Dr. Rich Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 Why does anyone need a prophet after Jesus left? Didn't He do the job right the first time? I can't find where Jesus ever said that there would be another prophet except for the 'Eiljia type' who is THE good and faithful servant found in Matt. 24:45. Sure, He warned us of many false prophets, but never said a word on any more prophets to come after He left. Doesn't this make you wonder? Quote

Did He goof? U are implying that Jesus' ministry was a failure by saying we need another prophet after He gave the disciples the Holy Spirit. Quote

Don't know if its true or not, I'm not a part of the brain trust in heaven. But I will give my opinion! First I'd say once a prophet always a prophet. Just like me, once a printer always a printer. Even if I were to have gotten into something else in life, I'd still be a printer at heart. Just as a minister will always be a minister! Second, yes they can retire, just as Pastors get to retire, I would say that prophets can retire, but they will always be prophets when needed.
