I thought I would start this here, since it was suggested to by Jeannie...

Since I am exploring Oregon from time to time, I thought I would put up some pictures...If you click on the pictures, you will get the larger picture and see far more detail, and it is kinda impressive to view it...

A gorgeous place to stop along I-84 and take a break. It's about 1-2[?] hr from Portland and there is hiking here. If the picture looks like there are some diaganoil streaks, it was hailing as I took this picture. Needless to say, we did NOT do much in the way of hiking there that day.

Wind surfing on the Columbia River

This is closer to the Dalles, Oregon. Apparently, this day was dedicated to Sail surfing and you can see the colorful canopies open from the wind with the person surfing on the waters of the Columbia River.

Stonehedge, Washington, on the other side of the Columbia River. This Stonehedge is a replica of the one in England. It was built for a different purpose.It was to memorialize the men lost during WW 1. When Sam Hill, a quaker pacifist, saw the origional Stonehedge, he was told that it was used for human sacrifice to pagan gods. [a popular explination at the time 1918]. His comment was, "After all our civilization, the flower of humanity is still being sacrificed to the god of war in the battlefields." Thus was Stonehedge, Washington created.

Good idea Neil. My very brief time in Oregon (in fall) included a drive from Portland up the Gorge to Multnomah Falls then back the "high road". I enjoyed it very much and will be happy to see more of your offerings.

I've seen other pictures of Multnomah Falls. Very spectacular. Also Columbia River Gorge.
