jasd Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 ...may I suggest that should anyone feel inclined to answer another’s post – please read carefully, with all the cognitive powers one can bring to bear upon the matter before doing so. >>”Muslimism” is called “Islam”<< An example of exactitude or exercise in cognition is the above. Some do not address Mohammedanism as Islam because Islam derives from a root word meaning ‘Peace’. Given what is emanating from the region nowadays, Islam does not accurately reflect reality – hence: Muslimism. Don’t be so quick to assert a thing without first asking a question – should that seem the wiser part of valor. >>You are advocating racial purity,<< Another example of careless reading: I am charged with advocating “racial purity”, which is insanity – given, among many factors, that none of my posts have advocated such a thing – and that I am classified as a lesser example of ‘racial purity’; that is, I am not a product of racial purity, but of a mixed marriage. Read with clarity, as I recall summing the matter with the statement: "It was Gd who separated the races after the deluge - not jasd." >>Is interracial marriage morally acceptable?<< I have been asked the startling question above despite having repeated myself that I am of a mixed marriage, as is most of my immediate and my extended family. I have also stated for everyone’s benefit that I am presently in a mixed marriage – as were my former marriages mixed. Cognition and recognition are required forms of reading and dialogue. Please read carefully. That would include not only posts upon these boards, but even the MSM from whence most of America now gets its 15-30 second sound bites, which seems to suffice to fill their understanding of a societal repertoire. Read carefully. And please, enough with the denouements arrived-at via non sequiturs. Quote

Who are the people who use this term for the reason you state? Are they political leaders, religious leaders, scholars, general public???? SivartM Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Islam actually means "submission to God". jasd Posted April 2, 2012 Author Posted April 2, 2012 >>Who are the people who use this term?<< Many and varied – who find it more natural in everyday conversation to say, “This, That, or The Muslim...” rather than the unnatural, “This, That, or The Islam...” Muslim is the inculterated term used in our conversations – and meant as ‘one who has embraced the religion of Islam or follows Islamism’. It is more natural to the English language and more suits the tongue and the ear than does, “This, That, or The Islam...” – with its meaning more readily taken. Muslimism is simply a related form, a derivational form of Muslim. Or, as the purist may say, “Muslim is an agent form of the verb of which Islam is a verbal noun.” [/cribbed] >>Who are the people who use this term for the reason you state?<< You want I should take a poll? ;-) >>Are they political leaders, religious leaders, scholars, general public????<< Again, many and varied. Those engaged here in a conversation where the term for a follower of Islam is needed... use the term Muslim - as those everywhere. You want I should use Islamist? Given the current state of affairs – to refer to a Muslim as an Islamist tenders unwarranted regard, imo. (ain not bigoted, is it?) Moreover, language epithetically morphs – given zeitgeist. You'll notice that I haven't used any derogatory euphemisms Quote
jasd Posted April 2, 2012 Author Posted April 2, 2012 >>Islam actually means "submission to God".<< Yes, that too. Personally, I prefer ‘self-relinquishment’ as the verbal aspect of Islam – it’s more phonetically pleasant. However, you’ll notice from the above post that Islam is a verbal noun with ‘purity’, ‘sincerity’, and ‘peace’ – deriving from its noun aspect. I haven’t seen much of the ‘peace’ factor lately emanating from the Islamic States – all 57 of them. (ain not bigoted, is it?) [/kidding – just bustin’ the Mod’s chops] ;-) Quote
