Woody Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 http://www.newsmax.com/SciTech/facebook-dislike-app-enemygraph/2012/04/03/id/434667 Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Dottie Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I think if Facebook wants to have an opposite of "Like," it should be "Dislike," not "hate." Hate is an extreme emotion. Of course, apathy seems to be the worst emotion, showing one doesn't care at all. Quote
Members phkrause Posted April 4, 2012 Members Posted April 4, 2012 I'd say no! period, don't recall Jesus asking us to do so. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Woody Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 I'd say no! period, don't recall Jesus asking us to do so. So I take it - you would have issue with Facebook? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Woody Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 same here pk Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

I'm just saying that I would not partake of that part of FB. PK, Nor would I. You don't need a hate or dislike button ... you can always delete, or you can block a person or app for a long-term solution. Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
Liz Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Personally I wish they did have a dislike button. My friends and I often talk about our children's health and as most of them have chronic diseases, which is why we are friends in the first place, when we talk about the "bad" stuff we all wish we could click the dislike button to show our support of each other. Talking about something bad and having people "like" it, does seem strange. Quote For what will a man be profited, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Mat. 16:26Please, support the JDRF and help find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes. Please, support the March of Dimes.
Woody Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 Good Point Liz. Many times someone shares bad news and I want to support them but don't really want to comment. I click on like. But it does seem strange to like bad news. But I do it just to say thanks for sharing and that I care. Perhaps there should be an 'I care' button. Or heart button. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted April 4, 2012 Author Posted April 4, 2012 A little off topic - but regarding the use of the 'like' button on FB - I have a FB friend who is very negative. Recently I decided that everytime I see a post of his that is NOT negative - I would make an effort to click the like button. And I think it might have possibly helped. I do hope my little action helps him some. However - if I had put on a 'dislike' button - I doubt that would be on any help to him. Even though I do dislike hearing all of his negativity. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Administrators Gail Posted April 4, 2012 Administrators Posted April 4, 2012 Why not just ignore? It seems that when one takes action to a negative it would ingrain it more in the mind. Ignoring it makes it easier to skip and reamin open-minded to anything positive that comes after. Labels are hard to erase... Labelling someone under the "hate" category is, as was mentioned, more extreme than simply not agreeing or not liking. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Moderators Bravus Posted April 4, 2012 Moderators Posted April 4, 2012 "Love your enemies..." - kinda hard to do that without having any! Of course, that doesn't mean we should go out of our way to make enemies, just so we can love them! And we'd hope that at least some enemies can be converted into friends by loving them. But, I guess, if other people choose to make themselves our enemies, then having them to love is something that will help us grow up... Quote Truth is important
Moderators Bravus Posted April 4, 2012 Moderators Posted April 4, 2012 In Facebook's defense they have so far staunchly resisted having an 'Unlike' button. Quote Truth is important

That's all well and good, are you comparing Jesus to FB? The two have absolutely nothing to do with each other. The hate that people will show to those that go against the law makers will be far more than a stupid little FB rule. olger Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Indeed not. Agreed. Agreed 2.0 Wear a sweater, and God bless! Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
