Administrators Naomi Posted April 4, 2012 Administrators Posted April 4, 2012 According to Mr Webster: Definition of CHRISTIANITY 1: the religion derived from Jesus Christ, based on the Bible as sacred scripture, and professed by Eastern, Roman Catholic, and Protestant bodies Definition of RELIGION (1) : the service and worship of God or the supernatural (2) : commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance 2: a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
Dr. Rich Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Now find what religion was Webster when he wrote this? Actually, Paul invented the Christian religion. It was his own personal take on who Jesus Christ was. Quote

Interesting reply Bravus, and I do agree. I've always wondered about those last few words. "and to keep himself unspotted from the worl." What does that mean to you or anyone else for that matter? Maybe it needs another thread, so not to get off the point on this thread. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Members phkrause Posted April 4, 2012 Members Posted April 4, 2012 I looked it up in another bible: James 1:27 The religious observance that God the Father considers pure and faultless is this: to care for orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being contaminated by the world. This now makes a little more sense to me now. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Woody Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Why is it that being religious is good. But "religion" is bad? Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology. Â
olger Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Contamination bad. Compassion good. Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
M. T. Cross Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 According to Mr Webster: Definition of CHRISTIANITY 1: the religion derived from Jesus Christ, based on the Bible as sacred scripture, and professed by Eastern, Roman Catholic, and Protestant bodies Definition of RELIGION (1) : the service and worship of God or the supernatural (2) : commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance 2: a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices I think for a lot of people there is a difference. For many people the assumption that they base their religion on the Bible and the teachings of Jesus is a slight against their beliefs, a slight against their Gods and against their practices. Quote
Moderators Bravus Posted April 5, 2012 Moderators Posted April 5, 2012 At least equal weight, though, on the caring for widows and orphans as on keeping oneself uncontaminated. The latter is kinda pointless without the former, at least according to Jesus. Quote Truth is important
olger Posted April 5, 2012 Posted April 5, 2012 Both good. Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
