Amelia Posted May 7, 2005 Posted May 7, 2005 Bill to Put Maine in Atlantic Time Moves Forward Friday, May 06, 2005 wabi tv 5 (AP) Mainers would join their neighbors in the Canadian Maritime Province in the Atlantic Time Zone if a bill that advanced in a legislative committee becomes a law. The State and Local Government Committee voted unanimously to approve the bill putting Maine in a zone where it's an hour later. An amendment added by the committee stipulates that if Maine were to adopt Atlantic time, there would be nore more daylight savings time in the state. If the bill makes it through the Legislature, it would be sent to voters. If passed, the United States Secretary of Transportation would be asked to change Maine's time zone.
