I was recently told that when angels or God spoke to the Bible prophets and patriarchs, the supernatural being always, without exception, identified himself, and since Ellen White does not say who her guide is and he apparently did not identify himself, there is some question as to what type of spirit may have been guiding her.

I don't know if either statement is true - that God's messengers always identify themselves, or that Ellen's guide did not identify himself.

In the story of Abraham and his three visitors, did they identify themselves? I guess this bears some study, but if anyone has some answers, I would love to hear them.

Are Satan's spirits required to be honest?

May we be one so that the world may be won.

Of course they can lie, but I don't believe they are allowed to identify themselves as God or an angel from God. They might come as a being filled with light leaving us to assume they are from God when they are not. You have to test the spirits to know.

However, this is not exactly what I am asking. I am asking:

1. Did those beings who communicated with Bible prophets always identify themselves?

2. Did Ellen White's guide identify himself?

I believe not LynnDel. Abraham realized who it was when the stranger said that when he came back Sarah would have the child that was promised.

I guess I should have asked, when she tells of visions where she speaks of "my guide," did she ever say he identified himself? Not making a big deal out of this; just curious.
