Stan Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Reading on another forum.. question came up.. Should Christian tell people to lower the bar? or to encourage them to overcome? olger Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Real good question. "Let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God (Hebrews 10:26-28). G Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
CoAspen Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Encouragement Fear of hell fire and damnation encouragement noun the action of giving someone support, confidence, or hope • persuasion to do or to continue something • the act of trying to stimulate the development of an activity, state, or belief: Quote
Moderators Bravus Posted May 3, 2012 Moderators Posted May 3, 2012 Depends what the 'bar' is, though: God's laws, or man's culture... Quote Truth is important

cricket Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 As Bravus said, it probably depends on what the bar is set for. Even so, I really think that in all things we should be more encouraging, uplifting and helpful to one another. Too often our neighbors are left feeling judged, helpless and unable to overcome all things through Christ. Quote
Liz Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Definitely be more encouraging. Not necessarily lower the bar, but sometimes it needs to be changed to make a more level playing field. Stan Posted May 3, 2012 Author Posted May 3, 2012 Have you ever seen others get upset or diss those who want to get higher education than they do? Have you ever seen others get upset or diss those who want to get better health habits than they do? Have you ever seen others get upset or diss those who want to get more spiritual than they want to be? Or overcome something that is a good thing to overcome? that kind of thing. Woody Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 The greatest danger is that we place the bar to high. We need to lower our expectations of people and let GOD take care of raising the bar. The Gospel is simple. Salvation is the easiest thing to obtain. All one has to do is to reach out and accept it. I would say that the bar is extremely LOW. The idea of raising it is from Satan. Woody Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 I would say, Look at Jesus for both the standards and how to treat people. Each person interprets Jesus differently. Thus - we can look for personal guidelines from Jesus for OURSELVES but not as a guide for what OTHERS should do. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. LifeHiscost Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Encouragement Fear of hell fire and damnation encouragement noun the action of giving someone support, confidence, or hope • persuasion to do or to continue something • the act of trying to stimulate the development of an activity, state, or belief: All of the bold happen when we admit we haven't got what it takes to succeed in our own strength and we see Jesus and His Way our best option. "Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me." John 14:6 NLT "“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing."John 15:5 NLT God blesses! Quote Lift Jesus up!!
LifeHiscost Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Is Jesus then a different Person when we interpret Him differently? Quote: Each person interprets Jesus differently. What do we then make of this advice given by the Holy Spirit? Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.Hebrews 13:8 NLT And if He is different for each of us, how then can this be possible? " And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth."John 17:3 NLT And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments. If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth.1 John 2:3 NLT God blesses! Quote Lift Jesus up!!

LifeHiscost Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Sometimes I wonder if it is possible that people have nothing of value worthwhile sharing. Sometimes I've felt that way about myself. And then I ran across this bit of advice. teresaq Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Is Jesus then a different Person when we interpret Him differently? Quote: Each person interprets Jesus differently. What do we then make of this advice given by the Holy Spirit? Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.Hebrews 13:8 NLT And if He is different for each of us, how then can this be possible? How could we all possibly understand (interpret) Jesus the same given none of us are robots or clone? We all come with different histories, dysfunctions, and those are going to operate in our studies. I would agree, if you were to say, that we need to come to a similar understanding of God, or Jesus, but to automatically expect that seems to not be dealing in reality... So while Jesus is the same Being, of course we will understand Him differently. Hopefully we learn to submit our beliefs and learn of Him... Quote facebook. /teresa.quintero.790

olger Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Go ahead and talk about him because he makes you doubt Because he has denied himself the things you can't live without Laugh at him behind his back just like the others do Remind him of what he used to be when he comes walking through. Stop your conversation when he passes on the street Hope he falls upon himself, oh, won't that be sweet Because he can't be exploited by superstition anymore Because he can't be bribed or bought by the things that you adore.
