Woody Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 I was watching Fox News where they were interviewing this doctor who had a boating accident where she was held under water for 15 minutes. She claims she went to Heaven and returned. In the middle of the interview - unfortunately - Buddy changed the channel so I could not hear her describe heaven. But she wrote a book I think it was To Heaven and Back. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Administrators Naomi Posted May 10, 2012 Administrators Posted May 10, 2012 Yes, but haven't read it, nor probably will not. The NDE's are so popular and IMO give too many people something to believe in that is not Bibically correct. If you are interested in a good book, if you haven't read it, it is HEAVEN by EGW Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God

If you are interested in a good book, if you haven't read it, it is HEAVEN by EGW I do agree, but don't mind reading books that I know are not based on correct theology. I read them just to see how far fetched things can get. Sometimes as, The Shack, even though you know that some of it is out there in right field, its still very interesting. Woody Posted May 10, 2012 Author Posted May 10, 2012 pk - you bring up such an important issue that I must say more lol. Just reading a book does not mean that we agree with it. And by not understanding our neighbors - we isolate ourselves and become a sect. How in the world can we witness to others if we truly don't know nor understand them. We have no means of finding common ground and sharing. So, I find it critical to know and listen to their personal experiences and beliefs. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Members phkrause Posted May 10, 2012 Members Posted May 10, 2012 I do agree Woody, but there are some that really can't handle those kind of books. They fall for such things, hook, line and sinker. :( Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

Surely NO one on this forum would be in that classification pk ! lol Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.

Understanding others and finding common ground can usually be accomplished by taking time to get to know neighbors, friends and family; listen to them. Most people are not much different than ourselves, in that they believe a mix of their denomination. Not to say that I haven't,nor will in the future, read various books ... but most of them just aren't worth taking precious time and energies to put unneeded junk into my poor little brain. Planey Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 I was watching Fox News I thought we were supposed to steer clear of fiction? Hehehe... Graeme Quote Graeme____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

She claims she went to Heaven and returned. In the middle of the interview - unfortunately - Buddy changed the channel so I could not hear her describe heaven. But she wrote a book I think it was To Heaven and Back. Well; I went to "heaven" and back 3 different times during a number of major surgeries I had in the past. On hindsite; I think maybe the ketamine that the doctors had to give me was behind it. One of the reasons I know that is because on the one trip; I was in a bath tub, (getting ready) and I was sure the tub was upside down. So of course, I am clawing away, trying to hang on and not fall out, and I tore the uniform of one of the nurses by accident. No. I don't think it was heaven after all. But I did see the "light" and the "tunnel;" and I started to go down the tunnel to the light every time, but then something would happen, and I would awake to Reality once again... I prefer to read the kind of book that Naomi suggested. Quote "People [rarely] see...the bright light which is in the clouds..." (Job 37:21)"I cannot know why suddenly the stormshould rage so fiercely round me in it's wrathBut this I know: God watches all my pathAnd I can trust""God helps us to draw strength from the storm" - OveragedFaith makes things possible; it does not make them easy, Steps To Christ
Administrators Naomi Posted May 16, 2012 Administrators Posted May 16, 2012 Approximately 20 years ago my ex-sister-in-law had a "health center" in Mexico where she taught juicing and other natural remedies. She was diagnosed with cancer and came to the US for treatment. I was sitting with her one night when she was very ill. My chair was in the corner. The only light in the room was the lamp over my chair and I was sitting in the chair reading. The nurse came and gave her an injection for the pain. Within a few minutes she raised herself as much as possible and looked directly at me, she began saying you are so beautiful, so very beautiful. I see the light. I am coming to you. This went on for 5 or 10 minutes. I spoke to her but she continued with her dialogue. Later she wrote a book, did some National TV shows all about her NDE. Her income increased dramatically. The rest of the story: TWIW She would become angry when I would laugh and say, "I was your angel and the light was a 75 watt blub." Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
