Administrators Gail Posted May 17, 2012 Administrators Posted May 17, 2012 We were shocked and saddened at the news of the passing of my hubby's grandson Dustin. He was riding a motorcycle in Vietnam and simply lost control of the bike and crashed into a lamp post. He was rendered unconscious instantly but remained alive until his arrival at the hospital. I talked with a friend who was with him when he died and he stated that he never suffered at all and at the time of his crash was a happy man who was greatly loved. He was the only son of my husband's only daughter. She died of bone cancer when she was 25 and the lad only 9. He was vivacious, handsome, muscular. I've never heard a bad word said about him by anyone. In fact, as his friend told me, he was well-loved at home as well as abroad. Apparently he was working on a documentary while in Vietnam, but I have no details as to what sort of film it was. All I know about his circumstances there was that he befriended everyone there right as soon as he got there. The last time I saw him was on a visit a few months back. Russ posted a picture of him and one of Russ' twins on Facebook. Like his mother he was a light that just went out way too soon. Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

Administrators Gail Posted May 18, 2012 Author Administrators Posted May 18, 2012 Very sorry to hear this, Gail. I trust that the Lord will bring some good from this painful experience... Will there be a funeral that you guys can attend? g Olger, we were party to a Skype video conference this morning. The young people at the hostel where Dustin was living put on a wonderful program- so heartfelt! They are not Christians, the music was Red Hot Chili Peppers (!), but they had a slide show all set up and an open mike and they really made a nice celebration. I can't remember if I posted this already but the boy's 2 uncles (Russ' twin sons) and their half-brother will fly over to collect the ashes and bring them home to Calgary, Alberta. There has already been an offering taken to help with the cost of that. Most everyone attested to the vibrancy and joy that Dustin spread to the staff there and all he came in contact with. His friends there really went out of their way to make the occasion special for the family. It was very heartwarming.
