Dr. Shane Posted May 11, 2005 Posted May 11, 2005 The liberals cannot even let the First Lady tell a few jokes without trying to stir up Bush-hate. Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted May 11, 2005 Moderators Posted May 11, 2005 Great cartoons! I think everybody was surprised when Laura turned out to be such a risque jokester. I heard a woman caller on Rush's show the next morning bemoaning the horse-milking joke. She thought Laura was off base. I wonder what Laura's point was. Perhaps to try to stabilize Dubya's falling numbers. But I must say, she's looking great herself. Quote Jeannie

...Change is inevitable; growth is optional....

K Posted May 12, 2005 Posted May 12, 2005 I thought these were cute. A few of them made me go ouch too! I really like Laura. She is my 2nd favorite republican first lady. Her mom and law is my all time favorite. K Quote Proverbs 15:15 He that is of a merry heart hath a continual feast.

What is this acerbity over cartoons, Shane? There were both pro and anti Laura Bush cartoons in that bunch....Are you just trying to create antagonism and ill will here? Anyone who gets upset over a cartoon needs to have his head examined, in my humble opinion... Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. Ron Lambert Posted May 12, 2005 Posted May 12, 2005 Celebrity roasts are a time-honored tradition, and Laura Bush showed that she is especially good at it. While some of the use liberals/Democrats have tried to make of it has also been funny, their penchant for trying to turn it into anti-Bush propaganda shows more of a mean spirit than a sense of humor. I thought the cartoons that juxtaposed Laura Bush's humorous statement that she is "a desperate housewife" with depictions of people suffering in poverty or suffering the loss or injury of loved ones in war, was unwarranted and unfair, even shamefully exploitative on the part of those trying to use such things for their political propaganda purposes.
