SDAnonymous Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 As a ministry, we at Unpublished Ellen White don't align ourselves with SDA factions because we do not want to limit the scope of our work in promoting the unpublished writings of Ellen White to the people of the SDA Church. The unpublished writings should be accessible to ALL SDA's, not just the Independents, or the SDARM, or the IMS, or BDSDA or the Non-Trinitarians, or those who believe any specific points... That being said, we were greatly interested at finding a letter from Ellen White where she uses the word "trinity". To have a bit of fun and see if we can generate some interest in our ministry, since this appears to be a popular issue on this board (our first post being commandeered by the discussion), before we post the letter, we would like to have people guess how she used it. BobRyan Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Ellen White - while she was alive - complained that people attributed things to her that were not in fact her views at all - but some wrenched or in some cases totally fabricated view that then had her name attached. Hence the wary response of those who read her writings when it comes to claims that "I have some odd statement you can find nowhere else in Ellen White's writings". Paul himself had to deal with the problem of people getting "supposed letters from Paul" which were not from him at all (2Thess 2:1-3) in Christ, Bob Quote John 8:32 - The Truth will make you free“The righteousness of Christ will not cover one cherished sin." Moderators John317 Posted May 26, 2012 Moderators Posted May 26, 2012 You said, "...we were greatly interested at finding a letter from Ellen White where she uses the word 'trinity'." Ellen White never did use the word "Trinity" in her writings. You've said she used it in "a letter." What is the date of the letter and could you please quote the sentence in which it occurs? One thing for sure is that Mrs. White taught the concept of one God in "the great Threefold power," "the heavenly trio," "the three holiest Beings in heaven," etc. Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
LifeHiscost Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Since trinity is not a word to point to the triune Deity and He is spoken directly as One God in the Scripture, it seems counterproductive for the winning of souls to make conversation about that which God didn't seem to think was necessary for carrying the Gospel message to the world at large. If God only felt it necessary to make an issue of pointing out that "God is One', why should we feel it needful to add to His description of Himself? God blesses! Quote Lift Jesus up!!

One thing for sure is that Mrs. White taught the concept of one God in "the great Threefold power," "the heavenly trio," "the three holiest Beings in heaven," etc. the quote "three holiest Beings in heaven" came from a stenographer's report of a Sermon preached by E. G. White at the Congregational Church, which was being temporarily used by the Oakland SDA Church, 18th and Market Streets, Oakland, California, on Sabbath afternoon, October 20, 1906. I have found NO evidence that Ellen G. White proof read the report. Quote grw
Moderators Gerr Posted May 26, 2012 Moderators Posted May 26, 2012 Are you saying those were the stenographer's additions or editorializing work? Quote

The very fact that the word trinity when applied seems to draw so much ire, unless one can point to someone won to Christ as a result of its' use, would indicate the spirit behind the use of the word. Dr. Waite Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Are you saying those were the stenographer's additions or editorializing work? I do not know the answer to your question. All I know is that the quote came from a stenographer's report and not directly from the pen of Ellen White. Quote grw

Gordon1 Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 The White Estate has kept things secret too long. The term is gatekeeper. Can this pass scrutiny of the Investigative Judgment? Quote

We do have personal views, but there is diversity among us... we believe in keeping this ministry with only one focus. We have had some people attack us online as if we have a specific agenda... that's why we believe it wisest to only stick to one agenda...
