Overaged Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 Bible Answers In Response To Arguments For Women's Ordination Forum members are invited to contribute to this topic, by posting links and resources only that do not support women's ordination, and show the benefits of not making that change which would allow women to be ordained as Pastor or Elder My Summary: The ordination of women as Pastors, Bible teachers, Elders, and other ministry offices has become very common-place in most of the mainline Churches of today. This topic will offer some solid, Biblical evaluations for the most popular arguments we are hearing today. Let the posting begin! "People [rarely] see...the bright light which is in the clouds..." Overaged Posted June 10, 2012 Author Posted June 10, 2012 I was delighted to find this website where I could go and sign this petition, and make my voice heard in a civilized way. I would urge others who are interested to also click on the link and sign the petition. Quote: As a Bible-believing constituent of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, your voice matters. It’s important for us collectively to ask and encourage our leaders to stand on the Rock of God’s Word above popular cultural and social movements. When they see that they serve a people concerned about setting Bible teachings above the traditions of men, they will be inspired to act accordingly. That’s why we invite you to sign this petition to the leadership of the Pacific Union Conference, North American Division, and the General Conference, asking them to practice restraint and unity in the matter of women’s ordination, while also voicing that you support the traditional Adventist position of ordination and desire that our church continue to remain founded on the Word of God. SIGN THE PETITION HERE "People [rarely] see...the bright light which is in the clouds..." Administrators Gail Posted June 12, 2012 Administrators Posted June 12, 2012 I'm interjecting here, too, as I did with Tom's thread. I would like to open this up to anyone who has links or information to share regarding support for the side which is con-Women's Ordination. Information-gathering only. Overaged is free to edit as he sees fit. Discussion is to carry on as currently in the other discussion threads. This will allow for people to provide info without having it muddied up. If you find info here that you would like to carry over to the discussion threads, that is fine. We are trying to provide a place where people who have not yet made up their minds to view both sides unmolested. Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

You hit the nail on the head here. The only thought in mind here was to have a place where people could post links and a bit of related commentary/testimony for people not in support of WO where we dont have to worry about being challenged every step of the way. I think this is a good idea for both sides to have a thread like this for any issue that is classed as a "Hot Potato." "People [rarely] see...the bright light which is in the clouds..." Overaged Posted June 13, 2012 Author Posted June 13, 2012 Dear Forum Members; my apology for the above typo which I am sure caused some confusion to day while I was gone! The original post I did actually read: "for those in support of WO," instead of the current reading "for those not in support of WO." lol, I think it's pretty obvious what kind of confusion may have resulted...I will try to be good; but I am only little.. Overaged Posted June 14, 2012 Author Posted June 14, 2012 Quote: A segment within the Seventh-day Adventist Church is currently campaigning to change our historic position regarding the ordination of pastors —that only consecrated men should be ordained. In addition, this push to begin ordaining women as pastors is being done in disregard to the world church’s clear policy on this issue. This presents a serious crisis that threatens to fragment our beloved church, create confusion in our homes, and cripple the progress of the three angels’ messages. Your voice here today can help prevent this disunion. if you want some good Adventist view points on why women's ordination in the Adventist Church is being opposed, the following web site has been designed just for such a time: Christ or Culture This is the website where the above named petition is based. Overaged Posted June 15, 2012 Author Posted June 15, 2012 Is Limitation Of Womens Ordination Biblical or Cultural? I like the way Pastor Doug Batchelor explains this topic. Here is an exerpt: Quote: Also, if you go from Genesis to Revelation, God has so many opportunities to explain what the relationship is between men and women. God clearly does minister through women, and I'm not just patronizing. I believe there are a number of women prophets in the Bible who are spirit filled, and in that respect they teach. But the word "elder" and "pastor" in the Bible specifically refers to ordination, and there's no example in the Bible anywhere of God ordaining a woman in the capacity of pastor or elder. Overaged Posted June 15, 2012 Author Posted June 15, 2012 Amazing Facts has a number of resources that speak to the various issues surrounding women's ordination. I know that I often see arguments coming from various "cultural" viewpoints, and so I thought this link to Culture and The Christian would be very worthwhile to consider here. Overaged Posted June 15, 2012 Author Posted June 15, 2012 Here is an Amazing Facts Magazine which shows two things I believe are very important to recognize: 1/ throughout it's pages, you will see examples of women in ministry, and they are not just baking cookies for the men! 2/ On Page 9 there is a very good article entitles: What does the Bible say about women as elders or preachers? One of the points focused on here is put this way: Quote: "When Jesus chose the twelve apostles, I do not believe He was accommodating the traditions of the day when He selected only men." This is a pdf document, so you will need Adobe Reader or some similar program to read. "People [rarely] see...the bright light which is in the clouds..." Overaged Posted July 18, 2012 Author Posted July 18, 2012 This is an excellent book with a very balanced, Biblical view point on women's ordination: Daughters Of Inheritance Quote: In an ancient culture dominated by the power of men, God heeded the voice of five courageous women seeking hope and justice. According to author Wellesley Muir, His firm command revealed that women were not to be treated as mere property; rather, they had a role of honor in a heavenly-ordained institution. But what can His people today learn from this powerful message? Muir uses the story of the daughters of Zelophehad as a unique springboard to reach a better understanding of the important role of women in society and church in the modern era. He boldly asks, "What does it mean for women to have equality in God's eyes? What is the role of women in the family and the church in our time?" Explore this controversial issue anew when it matters most, as it explodes with more fiery passion and rhetoric in God's remnant church than ever before—and get answers that will give you a clear and calm direction straight into God's will.
