Gas Pump Nozzles

Is it just my area or are there a lot of areas where the gas pump nozzles are missing the automatic-fill lever? That is the lever that allows you to wash your windows, sit in your car or do anything to get away from the smell of gas while you fill your car.

Shane, I've found that if you use a pocket knife you can always have this "lever" with you. Just shove it in place instead of your hand.

Or the gas cap itself will work.

Only if it is one of those "unattached" ones. Mine comes with a cord that connects to the car so that I won't lose it!

HEY!!!

FOR THOSE WHO SIT IN THEIR CAR WHILE THE GAS IS PUMPED IN YOUR CAR.....

BE CAREFUL ABOUT SLIDING ALONG THE SEAT AND GETTING OUT AND TOUCHING THE METAL OF THE NOZZLE.

THE STATIC ELECTRICITY GENERATED BY THE SLIDING ON THE SEAT CAN GIVE YOU A TASTE OF WHAT THE WICKED WILL EXPERIENCE AFTER THE 2ND RESURRECTION.

Maybe this is a stupid question, but will the gas still shut off automatically with something shoved in there?

And yes, you should never get in and out of your car while the gas is pumping. Some gas stations have that posted. It is more dangerous in dry environments than humid ones.

I don't know if the gas will automatically shut off. I don't tend to leave the site. I just watch and wait. I know that my tank holds about 11 gallons; so I watch.

There is no way I'd want to hang onto that pump for as long as it takes to pump 30 or 40 gallons!

It seems that the states have different requirements. New Jersey requires that one's gas be pumped by an attendant. It is not any more expensive. I just came back from a south-north trip and Florida was most expensive. Some of our pumps have a little lever to prop the handle, others don't. I have a small vehicle, so never have to worry about 30 gallons, but I would just consider it a little exercise for my hands to have to hold the handle up.
