Any thoughts on this?

Quote:
Dalai Lama

"Gaining mastery over our destructive propensities, through the exercise of awareness and self-discipline with regard to our body, speech, and mind, frees us from the inner turmoil that naturally arises when our behaviour is at odds with our ideals. In place of this turmoil come confidence, integrity, and dignity - heroic qualities all human beings naturally aspire to."

Doesn't sound legalistic to me.

May we be one so that the world may be won.

I have no idea how you can say that ...

and besides - ALL good comes from God.

ALL good comes from God

That's exactly right woody. Do you see God mentioned in the Ealai Lama's statement? No, he's telling us that "we" can over come anything by ourselves.

Hey, what's wrong with the word, "mastery"?

Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

I am not sure that was his intention pk.

But a good note of caution I am sure.

This brings up an interesting discussion.

Does God work through those who don't believe in Him?

Now I am not saying the Dalai Lama does not believe in God.

But my belief is that God can produce good works in him even if he didn't know it or God.

Another thought:

Should a Christian read a 'self help' book?

How's that!

This current Dalai Lama appears to be a man of faith and open to the Holy Spirit who takes his job as spiritual leader of his people seriously. What worries me is that in the belief in reincarnation and the belief that it was the same person who they look for to do the job, I am worried as to what the next one will be like and how many people will be hurt as they pick someone expecting it to be the same man, yet the reincarnation heresy and the approach of the end of the world I suspect that Satan plans to lead them to someone of his choice the next time. Please pray for these people and keep this current man in our prayers for him to stay faithful and to grow into more truth.
