mark1217 Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 List jobs that you or a friend have or have had while keeping the Sabbath. Quote
Woody Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 I've not found any jobs where I felt I would be receiving a Sabbath day's blessing. Now there is work to be done on Sabbath. But I would not consider it to be a blessing for me to do. I don't think someone should work every Sabbath for sure. There should be some kind of rotation so that you can get a few Sabbaths to refresh yourself and connect with God. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
mark1217 Posted June 22, 2012 Author Posted June 22, 2012 I mean jobs for the 6 working days, Sun-Fri, our daily, regular, jobs. Quote
Woody Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 I am confused as to what this has to do with the Sabbath. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
mark1217 Posted June 22, 2012 Author Posted June 22, 2012 Certain jobs absolutely require work on the Sabbath that obviously wouldn't be suitable for Adventists. What are some suitable jobs that Adventists have where they are allowed to take off or do not need to work on the Sabbath? Quote
Woody Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Oh. Okay. Sorry I am so slow. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Woody Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Government workers hardly ever do much work. So that should be safe. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Members phkrause Posted June 22, 2012 Members Posted June 22, 2012 I mean jobs for the 6 working days, Sun-Fri, our daily, regular, jobs. mark I'd say most jobs are suitable for Adventists or non-Adventists to do the other 6 days of the week. So I'm with woody not sure what your after. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Moderators lazarus Posted June 22, 2012 Moderators Posted June 22, 2012 Government workers hardly ever do much work. So that should be safe. Tell that to law enforcement, bus drivers, train drivers, marines, social workers, air traffic controllers, firefighters, admin workers in various agencies. Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence. Einstein
Moderators Bravus Posted June 22, 2012 Moderators Posted June 22, 2012 I believe Mark is looking for a list of jobs that never require Saturday or Friday-evening work. Some sense of your field of work and qualifications would be helpful, since it could otherwise be a pretty long list... For those some distance north (or south) the Friday afternoon thing can be an issue in winter when sunset is very early (before 5). Quote Truth is important

I was referring to those IN Government - you know - writing the laws and budgets. As I think you knew. LOL Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. I only worked 30 minutes over yesterday; that was a slow day. Quote I prayed for twenty years but received no answer until I prayed with my legs. Frederick Douglass
