Guest Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 I wish I was there! Will your sermons be recorded? Quote
Administrators Naomi Posted June 28, 2012 Administrators Posted June 28, 2012 Would be great to be there. Enjoy and bring us inspiration Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
Administrators Gail Posted June 28, 2012 Administrators Posted June 28, 2012 Yes- tell us all about it! :) Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
olger Posted June 29, 2012 Author Posted June 29, 2012 Bill Shea is great. Tim Reisenberger had a good presentation about his foreign mission experiences. Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Members phkrause Posted June 29, 2012 Members Posted June 29, 2012 Bill Shea, at least from his books, should be one great speaker. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
olger Posted June 29, 2012 Author Posted June 29, 2012 Alexa Hernandez had a great presentation about the Emerging church. She's not a fan. :) Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
Administrators Naomi Posted June 29, 2012 Administrators Posted June 29, 2012 Perhaps when you have the time you would be so kind as to share some of her comments. Quote If your dreams are not big enough to scare you, they are not big enough for God
Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted June 29, 2012 Administrators Posted June 29, 2012 I thought the Ohio Conference Camp Meeting was a couple weeks ago... Quote "Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good." "Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal." "I love God only as much as the person I love the least." *Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth. (And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted June 30, 2012 Members Posted June 30, 2012 And another one of the speakers is a very good friend of mine who I've known since 1961!!! (And is the author of a book I edited..) Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
Moderators Kevin H Posted July 1, 2012 Moderators Posted July 1, 2012 I enjoyed studying with Dr. Shea at Andrews and reading his works, so I know that would be outstanding. I just got home from the New York Campmeeting at Union Springs. I had to work last weekend so I came up on Tuesday, stayed Wednesday, Thursday left noon Friday to work last night then slept 3 1/2 hours and got up and brought my mom up for today. One of my old classmates, Bill Knott, was the speaker for today, and during the week we had Dr. Clark for health, Dr. Brian E. Strayer is a Professor of History at Andrews University and Rick Kuntz. I really enjoyed it. One thing I learned that was interesting was in the early 1900s the New York conference was all ready to ordain a woman. It was approved by the NY conference President, and the Atlantic Union, then General Conference President A. G. Daniels said that while he agreed with them, that he felt that there were several lay members who were not ready to accept the ordination of women and that we needed to first educate the church before we start ordaining women, and Mrs. White wrote some counsel on how to start to increase women's ministry (councel that was not carried out by the church). I guess the anti-women's ordination want to not follow the education of our people that Elder Daniel's suggested. And of course it was wonderful to see friends as well. Spent some time with a close friend from highschool and a former girlfriend of mine. Quote
olger Posted July 1, 2012 Author Posted July 1, 2012 Hi All Blessings. The 2012 Zion Campmeeting was the best one yet (out of two). :-) It really was good - better than I anticipated. Here's why. • There was a very good spirit there. Hard to explain, but a mixture of dignity, hope, confidence, and genuine love for one another comes close. • There was a bigger crowd. I am told that it was bigger than the Conference campmeeting. Maybe not by much but bigger still. • All the speakers spoke in the main auditorium – no break-out sessions. • Dr. Bill Shea was fascinating to listen to. One of the heavyweight intellectual/theological giants of the church. • Tim Riesenberger did a great job. Lots of experiences that he shared in his presentations. • Alexa Roth did a great job on the emerging church. Very nice family. She is a home-school mom who began researching spiritual formation and the EC. He is a dentist. Three fine sons. • Hal Mayer did a great job of updating us on current globalization events. • The meetings were much more punctual this year – everything starting on time. More relaxed schedule too. • The location was absolutely beautiful. It was three times better than Allegheny campground and half the cost. No brainer there The dorm rooms had air conditioning – YES. • A storm came through Friday at 5:30. Killed the power and knocked trees over while we were all in the cafeteria. Couple of us sang How Great thou Art while the storm raged outside. • On Sabbath we had our normal program except we had to speak loud to be heard. No power = no mics. It worked well – the Swasey Hall had great accoustics. There were about 200 there – some couldn’t make it due to weather related issues. • I spoke on “twelve locked hearts” on Friday morning. Nancy said it went well. Yesterday afternoon I spoke on moral issues. That went very well according to comments we received. • We pulled our Honda Pilot up to the chapel side door and hooked up a 1000-watt inverter to run the projector for yesterday afternoon’s presentations. Powerpoints worked perfectly for Alexa, Tim and myself. All it took was a vehicle to run the thing. First time I have had a Honda powered presentation • Suprisingly, there were a lot of people there from out of state. Ohio conference leadership tried to kill some interest in the campmeeting (said it might be too conservative ) but others came from a distance to be blessed. All the funding came from grassroots donations and there was just the right amount of funds - like last year. • The food was great. I don't know how that happened - but it was. We sincerely missed you all. May 2012 be the best year of your lives in Christ. G Quote "Please don't feed the drama queens.."
