Woody Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 In light of this quote from EGW - was Jesus "weakened"? Quote: "If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it may be made bread. . . . If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence. Luke 4:3-9." {CTr 202.1} "In the wilderness of temptation the riches of the world was the bribe presented to our Lord. Satan did not come to Him with his temptations until the human nature was weakened and was crying out its necessity". . . . {CTr 202.2} Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Gibs Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 Yes Woody, Satan had succeeded with this ploy of weakening the subject and here he tried it on Christ. But it didn't work, I will add the few paragraphs after the one you posted to get the full grasp of her discussion, "In the wilderness of temptation the riches of the world was the bribe presented to our Lord. Satan did not come to Him with his temptations until the human nature was weakened and was crying out its necessity. . . . {CTr 202.2} Christ’s humanity would have shrunk from that which awaited Him in the desert. But He came to the world so that by coming into close contact with him [satan], He might wrest from the hands of the usurper the Lord’s human heritage. . . . {CTr 202.3} Satan knew that the personal controversy between the Prince of life and the prince of darkness had commenced, and he sought to overcome Christ in His physical weakness. The proof that Satan required was for Christ to accept the doubt and act upon it, thus showing that He entertained the doubt by giving the evidence that Satan desired. Had Christ complied with this suggestion of the enemy, his satanic majesty would still have said, Show me a sign, that I may believe you to be the Son of God. But not one of the signs specified was Christ to give. By working a miracle in His own behalf He would show that He questioned God. That sign that is greater than all miracles, a firm reliance upon a “Thus saith the Lord,” was a sign that could not be controverted. . . . {CTr 202.4} How artfully had Satan approached Eve in Eden! “Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?” Thus far every word that Satan spoke was truth, but his manner of saying them was a disguised contempt for the words of God. There was in his words of truth a covert negative, a denial, a doubt of the divine truthfulness. He sought to instill into her mind the thought that God would not do as He had said, that the withholding of such beautiful fruit was a contradiction of His love and compassion for them. {CTr 202.5} And now he seeks to inspire Christ with his own sentiments. “If thou be the Son of God.” Thus he sought to imbue Christ with his doubts. . . .Would God treat His own Son thus? . . . {CTr 202.6} Temptations will arise [among some] to cause distrust of God and to question His love. . . . They become traitors, rebels against God, and accept the temptations of him whom they choose as their leader. They become a medium for Satan, a channel through which he communicates to other minds the doubts and infidelity with which he has imbued them.—Letter 3, 1897. {CTr 202.7} That is a good one to think about. He is our example of how it is done. 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Members phkrause Posted June 30, 2012 Members Posted June 30, 2012 It seems obvious to me from that statement it did. His human nature it says not his divine nature. Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2

Good point pk - it was certainly not his Divine nature to be weakened. Quote May we be one so that the world may be won. Christian from the cradle to the grave I believe in Hematology.
Gibs Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 The great thing of it all is we too can have His Divine Nature imparted. Sure Satan knows how to weaken the human nature, he has been very successful at nigh onto 6,000 yrs. so today his game is very highly polished. But when he and his fallen ones with him see Christ in you, he knows his game is spoiled and he knows if you will retain Christ over him. He is a defeated foe for you now for sure providing you only surrender your will to Christ. He can't defeat your power over your will the choice you will to make. Like old Joe Crews stated many times, "set your face like flint" and do Christ's will. Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you 1Jo 4:4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Gustave Posted July 1, 2012 Posted July 1, 2012 It seems obvious to me from that statement it did. His human nature it says not his divine nature. Ellen White was explicit that Christ didn't have two separate natures.... ...Ellen was explicit that the Divine and Human Nature were blended into the ONE Person Jesus... ...Thus resulting in ONE nature which was a blending of the two. This is how Ellen promulgated that if Christ sinned God would have annihilated Him.... ...Since the Divine Nature was only Christ's so long as He towed the rope. ...If Christ sinned the Divine nature would have simply returned to God who issued it in the first place. This is what the whole Nicene Creed thread was about. Quote

This is what the whole Nicene Creed thread was about. So I guess Jesus had multiple personalities then. Are you saying that Jesus was insane? God manifest in the flesh if referred to as the 'mystery of godliness' and will never be fully understood by men. I have no problem with the idea that the two natures were blended. God is a spirit and man is flesh, so some type of blending took place whether you like it or not. Catholics focus solely on the divinity of Christ to support their unbiblical ideas of 'original sin' which leads to the heresy that Mary was sinless and a God. This is how she could give birth to Jesus without any 'original sin'. The bible says that anyone who confesses that Jesus is not come in the flesh has the spirit of the anti-christ. The whole focus of the NT is that God did in fact come in the flesh and overcame sin in the fallen nature of Adam. I don’t think I will take the advice of someone who worships Mary as the queen of heaven. Talk about heresy, let’s open up a thread on that! Quote
